Perfect. They can admit they failed or tell everybody that the homeless crisis is not an issue. The dems always talk about the homeless but don’t really care about it. It’s just a crisis they don’t want to waste.

The inner cities are next.

There are a plethora of reasons for the “homeless” problem. The majority of these reasons are caused by government policy, liberal institutions and liberal thought process.

The majority of the public believe the “Hallmark Channel Movie” version of who and what the “homeless” are. The issue is framed in a highly inaccurate way that anyone who has hands on experience trying to assist this population knows is not helpful.

The majority of those now labeled “homeless” used to have problems with alcohol and mental problems. It has now evolved into a situation, where at least where I worked, heavy marijuana useage is a huge contributing factor. We have an entire community of people whose only desire is to sit around and smoke, vape, or eat pot until they lose their homes or ability to pay rent. The issue exploded after pot was legalized here a few years ago. But the police in this area had been basically ignoring marijuana users for decades previously. But the availability and ease of acquisition increased greatly after legalization.

The "successful" ones manage to get some type of government benefit usually for being fat or some mostly faked (at first) disability. The ones who are not successful at bilking the government out of enough money to keep a roof over their heads make up most of the “homeless”.

Yeah, Morgan Freeman played God looking like a homeless guy in Bruce Almighty. People never grew beyond that stupid idea.

Even if they ask politely, he should tell them it is their problem they created and he is not about to inherit the thankless task of helping them while they then blame him for it. Let them and their voters sleep in their own mess.

Stay out of it. This is not a federal problem.

Money will n0t solve this problem. Trump should be attacking leftist policies that destroy the family, individual responsibility, private charity, and rigorous enforcement of law and city ordinances. There is not a big government solution for this localized problem.
Giving homeless free government housing at great cost to taxpayers won’t work, They will make the free housing look just like the tent cities they have constructed on the sidewalks of their cities.
Our president is wrong on this one

Are you like me worried the Federal solution might be to reduce the homeless in some states by spreading it out to other states.? - Tom

Maybe his point centers around whether they will seek help or not. And I was thinking that “help” in this context does not necessarily entail the state and municipal chief executives getting monetary handouts, but personnel in terms of enforcement.

That appears to be the current state solution, e.g. De Blasio sending NYC homeless to Newark NJ.

That appears to be the current state solution, e.g. De Blasio sending NYC homeless to Newark NJ.

Sometimes the solutions to problems can be extreme like the following to solve a crime wave in India.

Bhagalpur is a small town on the banks of the Ganges River, 145 miles away from Bihar’s capital Patna, snip The 1980s saw rampant crime and low conviction rates. Police, hoping to control the situation, found a solution they hoped would instill fear in would-be criminals: the blindings of those who had been arrested but not yet convicted.

snip These blindings went on intermittently in 1979 and 1980, with its victims eventually totaling 33
. And when the town finally heard about this barbarous punishment that involved acid and poking needles in these small-time criminals’ eyes, their initial response was even more shocking: they applauded.

In fact, the local populace not only supported the police but took its cue from them, tackling alleged criminals in a similar fashion with vigilante blindings that continue to this day.

Tom here- Although we will kill cripple and maim anyone that threatens this country militarily, we have different standards when it comes to internal threats.

So don't expect an immediate solution to our homeless/ drug problem since it involves many US citizens who are mentally ill.
We can also be counted on to kick our Muslim internal threat down the road. -Tom

Federalize the “homeless” and put them to work cutting brush in fire prone areas; put them in barracks type housing, give them 3 squares a day, no dope allowed, no booze allowed.

Anybody breaks the rules, straight to prison where you will still do the work, but under stricter conditions!

One of our impediments to solving behavioral problems is our court and law system.

The arguments would be, no crime conviction, you can't tell people what to do.
No laws that I know of that you have to have a job or a home.
If you get them on using drugs they can wiggle loose, and go into de-tox.

As a friend I worked with would regularly say to me; It looks like our society has failed again.
(after all it is our fault, and not theirs , we caused it.) -Tom

Strictly speaking since Congress appropriates money then the states don’t need to ask Trump for anything, politely or otherwise.

In my area the homeless have been removed from the surrounding area in the past month or two. Same for the Sepulvada Dam park area. The politicians do not care so I wonder what made them do this?
