When my dad was a street-beat cop in Baltimore during the 1950s, this would have been handled much differently — and much more effectively — in every respect.
I don't understand why the female cop is able to have this job clearly she doesn't have her partners back. She should have cracked the perp upside the head. If she had done that this would have ended rather quickly.
I hope she remembered her class on finger wagging, too.

Of course he had to be released but I forget the new rules. Does he get Met tickets or Target gift cards for coming back to court?
True but beating him on the head with a baton usually works.

A city cop of my acquaintance (not NYC) once told me that they were given strict orders to never use a baton as a club. Use it as a prod or as a lever, but never as a club.
It’s all about lawsuits. Video of a cop clubbing a suspect...liability lawyers dream about that sort of thing.

The reason why I tell people nowadays they don't want to be cops as they'll stick you with a partner who should be working as a dental office receptionist or cashier at chicken licken.

OMFG,I am truly embarrassed for what the NYPD has become just based on that response by the worthless partner.
When I was in 7th grade, many years ago, our Civics teacher, Bobbie S. was also the girl’s athletic coach. She was fully 5 feet of piss and vinegar but the nicest woman you could meet. One day two of the usual suspects fell into active discord with one more active than the other. Bobby drop kicked the more active discorder the punched him between the eyes as he somewhat came erect. This was in early fall and we did not have any more discord for the rest of the term. Bobbie S. did not do stompy foot.
This is so weird. The guy is on top of her male partner with his back to her? Anybody, including a 12-year-old kid, could jump on the perp's back, slip a forearm under his throat and clasp hands in a forearm choke-hold, and the fight is over.
Do they teach the candy-cops to do nothing at all, so they won't get hurt?
