My guess is that the Iranian people will over throw the Mullahs and return the govt to when the Shah was in power. IMHO.
While W’s support for the democratically elected shia government in Iraq was a factor, Obama’s calculated, willful support and finance of the Mullahs in Tehran was also a huge factor - emboldening them to make them believe they are untouchable.

Good article. It’s a pity we have to look to the Asia Times to provide a succinct analysis of the situation. The Dems are, of course, very sad that Iran has lost a murdering general (or, as they’d prefer, another obscure academic). As their consolation, they have the American mainstream communist media to assure them that Trump is an insane, incompetent tyrant.

Iran would love to close the straights but that would cripple their economy by the action the US would take to keep them open. Without Iran oil their economy completely collapses. With the Straights closed we would strangle them until they would relent.
This strike does not appear to be the result of any long-laid plans, rather the exploitation of an opportunity resulting from remarkable intelligence on the one hand and remarkable arrogance and overconfidence on the part of the targets on the other. That's an awful lot of eggs to place in a basket set out in the open for the foxes to dine, and dine they did. It isn't confirmed yet who was killed and who arrested, but if initial indications are true that was a decapitation operation of historic order, and any retaliatory jihad is likely to suffer from a sudden leadership deficit as a result.
A trillion here and a trillion thee, pretty soon you're taking real money. Imagine our Infrastructure, roads and bridges and airports if that money stayed here? Thankfully Trump is staying out of an invasion and is dealing with these terrorist leaders with pinpoint accuracy.
