My dr listed off about 15 cities/towns/areas within the country to see if I lived there or spent any time there. I keep meaning to ask him what specifically about those areas may be an issue for AML.
There may be other environmental factors later in life that contributed as AML is strictly an environmental cancer.
But, my father used round up, herbicides etc. US kids at early ages were required to work tirelessly in the yard and our abundant (huge) garden. My dads lawn was the envy of the neighborhood. But it was not healthy. Lol. Thinking back. We were sent out to dig out the Dandelions.
It concludes that the chemical is not likely to be carcinogenic to humans, unless the have the plant gene that it targets ...
More to the point 5 suicidal people tried to commit suicide by drinking the stuff right out of the barrel were the percentage is not the 2-4 % used to spray, but 46%.
One guy did die, the other 4 had very bad stomach aches.
There are no definitive scientific studies proving anything one way or another - most of the information out there is anecdotal and usually omits important points.
Not much will change my gut feeling. AML is very unlike most cancers. It hits hard and fast. Its deadly within a few weeks or a month. Where even ALL or Lymphomas can be the result of a Epstein Barr virus, (in reference to the immune system subject) AML is strictly an environmentally caused cancer. - from toxins or radiation. So, I believe it was a contributing factor as one of the toxins.
It hurts no one that I chose to keep (what I believe Are) toxic chemicals off my lawn and/or garden. I appreciate your kindness in your response unlike others who called me an idiot smh.
Environmental whackos did the same thing to DDT. They are directly responsible for the death of millions due to malaria around the world.
A Month after I was diagnosed with CLL at age 52, my 82 Year Old Father was diagnosed with Lymphoma.
We had the same Oncologist and he sat us down to ask if there were any Environmental causes that we would have had in common that may have contributed to our Diseases.
I was almost LOL trying to come up with a causation theory between our Life experiences.
My Father was sitting there trying to remember if he had been exposed to any chemicals while serving in the Navy during WWII and I was wondering about chemical exposure during my 30+ Year Career at a Fortune 500 Company working in Logistics.
My Father did own a Gas Station and I did work there when I was Kid to make some extra money. As I explained to our Oncologist, I Pumped Gasoline, I didn’t Drink it or sniff it and neither did my Father.
Like they say, sometimes a Cigar is just a Cigar.
Glad to hear you overcame your AML Diagnosis. I’ve known two people who were also afflicted with AML and they both survived it. We live in amazing times.
Prayers for your continued good health my FRiend.
Why would any autopsy ever test for glyphosate?
Interesting. Had it been a CML instead of CLL, my oncologist would have definitely attributed the gas station work. You see Benzenes (without eating or drinking lol) are you AML snd CML.
Hopefully your friends are doing ok. 7+3 chemos snd consolidation for AML are intense. But, the , donor sct is a whole other ball game. (A sct is required if there are aggressive mutations involved ie flt3). Yes we live in amazing times. But while the cancer is gone GVHD and the effects from that sct chemo did a number on me.
Yeah, I ended in Remission for my CLL after ten years, multiple Blood / Platelet Transfusions and four Chemo Rounds.
Now they tell me there are new Oral Drugs that mean I should not have to go through Intravenous Chemo if it comes back.
Unfortunately, when I had my last Bone Marrow Biopsy I was also Diagnosed with MDS (Myelodysplastic syndrome) which may (or may not) have been caused by the Cytoxan I received all these years. I could have had it all the while, but that is subject to opinion.
As I told my Oncologist, why didn’t you tell me you were having a BOGO Sale?
NHL/CLL is very manageable these dats. When my mom got sick last December, we thought it was a NHLCLL relapse. But it was Hodgkins. Her she was great during her 9 rounds for CLL/NHL. Never missed a beat.
But the Hodgkins.... she was so sick with fevers /chills/sweats every single day. They call them B symptoms. She never had them with CLL/nhl. She passed in August.
MDS can be very manageable as well. However, if it turns into AML thats where the problems occur. Theres kind of 2 types - the chronic and the aggressive. The aggressive form almost always needs a sct.
When I was diagnosed my platelets were 7 and I needed 3 bags of blood with 80% blasts. It happened quick. Most people chalk the symptoms to fluish things. I thought my bruises were from being clumsy and my teeth bleeding were from needing to see the dentist. The shortness of breath from lack of RBCs made me worry but, It was the intense back pain that lead to an MRI that showed my entire bone marrow saturated. Still all that was easier than the long term effects of a donor sct.
His wife had been telling him for years to cover up while spraying Roundup. He would not listen. She requested the autopsy test for the chemical.
The lawyers really care.....about their cut of the settlement.
Not necessarily. Roundup does mimic a molecule in glucose metabolism, and can block processing of it, causing the body to build up an excess which can trigger cell proliferation. And cell proliferation is one of the step s in cancer formation. People were thinking glycolysis abnormalities were a step in cancer formation long before Roundup showed up.
And I haven’t seen anybody argue that yet either. Most of the arguments are studies showing linkages between exposure and some types of cancer. But unbeknown to them, there is a logical reason to think those studies might be right.
Also bear in mind companies like roundup hire people to post positive posts on message boards to try and sway public opinion. I was on Free Republic from the beginning under a different user name, and I see a distinct change in the dialog here, from debating to attacking, molding opinion, and social shaming.
There are studies showing Roundup exposure is linked to increases in some forms of cancer, which is why they have won some lawsuits to date. What you will not often see, because nobody has noted it yet, and what I stumbled upon by accident once. Glyphosate is an inhibitor of an enzyme in glycolysis, which can cause a buildup of a byproduct of glycolysis, and fool the body into thinking it is swimming in calories, and trigger cellular proliferation (a growth phase).
That massive proliferation is one step in the formation of cancer cells, so IMO, Roundup definitely has what you would expect of a molecule associated with Cancer formation. That they noted the linkage before anybody noticed the mechanism makes me vey suspect of it.
As do all the posts we see swarm these threads immediately trying to make it sound like everybody loves Monsanto, Roundup couldn’t possibly be associated with cancer, and our enemies are the lawyers. Those companies hire companies whose sole purpose is to post things like that. It makes me wonder, especially when there is a valid biochemical reason to think there might be something to it.
Thank you
The only "studies" that I have seen that show what you say, is one French meta-study, which has been debunked for its bad methods and bias, over and over.
The same group responsible for that study found overtime is associated with cancer, and numerous other things no one else has found associated with cancer.
They are an outlier, and are known for their extreme bias.
I’ve been saying it since the $1M cup of McDonald’s coffee... Tort reform is WAY over due.
