Learn to code.
Chuckling
We had so much in HS other than studies.
Auto shop, machine shop, photography, graphic art, etc.
Drool...! Wish I could have taken them all. From JHS/middle through HS, I had wood shop, machine shop, mechanical drawing in addition to auto shop. In addition to regular band and jazz band. Didn't hurt my studies, even though I worked part time after school and weekends, got awards.
Kids nowadays don't get much education in high schools, and are not exposed to real world skills (other than coding). Different world.
I almost think it’s by design. They want you paying for everything. Need to change a fanbelt, hire a mechanic.
Need some plumbing work, hire a plumber, etc.
The guy you hire pays taxes, the company has to pay for insurance, trucks, tools, and all have to pay taxes on everything.
The want us stupid and not to question TPTB
Now that you mention it, it seems that way. I'm on a couple social media websites locally, and people are constantly asking for someone to do repairs, or tips on who to call to do repairs.
And it's usually for minor stuff that anyone with half a brain can do! Minor leaks on plumbing that only needs a rubber washer or gasket. Light bulb not working. Small hole in wall. Minor stucco repair. And so on. People too lazy to figure it out on their own! I do all the repairs around my home, including plumbing, electrical, roofing, etc. Same with my younger daughter, she knew more about fixing her house than her husband (carpentry, tiling, etc.). Luckily my oldest daughter married a guy that works on everything on the house.
But I know so many people who can't do a thing, and their kids are worse (usually liberal minded kids). Last Christmas, I gave my young grandkids real toolboxes with real tools and they loved it.
I think I have installed every water heater and sprinkler system in my neighborhood. I make a list, you buy what’s on the list, I install it.
Usually runs you about a twelve pack.
Lol! You sound like my next-door neighbor, he runs around the neighborhood fixing other peoples' furnaces and water heaters. My wife won't let me, says my services belong to her (and not to other ladies).
I was taught to help my neighbors.
And you're a good man because of what you do, congrats. My neighbor on one side is like an angel, helps everyone. Me, I'm not so nice like that. He mows lawns other than his own, including mine (he does it weekly, I wait until its a couple inches). Also sweeps the street far down the block. Etc. So I do what I can for him and just a couple others. Again, thank you for helping others!
Most of them kinda freak out when I rip something apart, go to the hardware store, return and put it back in service in a few hours.
