My take: The Dems see that there attempt to weaponize coronavirus is about to go up in smoke and are now desperate to hold on to a cash grab.
My bet is that after next week, coronavirus gets relegated to the back pages.

I would think that the reason Pence ordered constraints has to do with knowledge gaps rather than gag orders.
Someone may issue a statement which could be entirely accurate based on the knowledge he has at the time, but his reservoir of knowledge may be only half of what three other people could have offered him and would change everything.

I don’t want to hear the general’s strategy for fighting a war. I want each officer and sargeant to speak his mind freely and let me know what he individually thinks about his commander. A coordinated message? That sounds like collusion and manipulation to me /s/
