I see lots of overrun hospital in Europe, lots of dead people who have compromise health, people dying in countries who have no healthcare system and others who have died because they could not get regular health care due to the overrun hospitals.
I see a virus that overran Hospitals in Italy and China. I have never seen the modern flu do that.

As a matter of fact the daily briefings are doing the exact opposite of what your question infers. Nothing and I mean NOTHING is more feared or likely to drive hysteria then the unknown. By keeping us up to date every day this President making it much easier to deal with the media instilled and fostered hysteria.
No other presidents (to my knowledge) have had daily briefings on a flu epidemic but then tell me about another epidemic of any kind which even came close to the mass hysteria which has been needlessly instilled into not just our population the the entire worlds population?

Trump couldn’t pass this off as just another bad case of the flu. He had to act. He has turned lemons into lemonade. His polls are rising as he demonstrates leadership on a daily basis. The Trump daily briefings are helping him politically. A “V” shaped recovery will ensure his re-election.
Since there is no way to differentiate between the two possibilities, the only logical approach is to look at the Total Deaths stat instead. There would be no spike in Deaths if the Cases increase is just from more testing, but Deaths would accelerate if it is from more spread.
Unfortunately, it seems like the latter. The virus became known worldwide in early JAN, but it wasn't until FEB 10 that the globe had a day with over 100 deaths. The world then peaked at 158 deaths on FEB 23 with 158. After than it declined almost daily... 81, 64, 37, 58, 65, 54... then came MAR 1, and it shot back up, and the rise hasn't slowed down since. Over 100+ daily by MAR 5, 200+ by MAR 8, 300+ by MAR 11, 400+ by MAR 13, 600+ by MAR 15, etc... up to 2791 yesterday.
If it flattened out immediately and stayed at exactly 2791 per day, year-round, that's 1.018 million per year globally. That puts it at #14, sitting amongst #16 malaria (619,000), #15 suicide (793,000), #14 AIDS (954,000) and #13 Tuberculosis (1.18m) on the global causes of death scale. If it doubles, it will be the #6 cause of death, behind cardiovascular, cancer, respiratory disease, respiratory infection, dementia, and digestive diseases.
