This is a virus.
Nearly everyone will get it.
~80% will have a flu-like symptoms for days.
~10% will get it a bit worse
~5% will get it bad
some will die.

That is Nature. We are part of Nature.
We can limit it a bit. Treat it a bit. Cut it back a bit.
But it’s new (Novel), so until the Herd is Immune, it’s here. Wash your hands. Have a Cocktail. Make a will.

We will all be called when HE chooses us, and there is nothing you can do about that.

Live your life, or lock yourself in a hovel.

Me and mine? Cocktails on the poop deck!

The nature of this virus, with its ease of transmission and such a high percentage of people having no or very mild symptoms means that it will tend to run its course regardless of what is done. All that “social distancing” is really meant to accomplish is to “flatten the curve” so that our medical system is not overwhelmed.

This virus is not progressing as modeled by the experts because they have inaccurate information and an incomplete understanding of its characteristics. Hopefully those who are most competent will eventually gain the ears of our leadership, but as usual the ones making the most dire predictions are the ones who will get the most coverage from the media.

You have a talent for getting to the bottom line in a very few words.

I will add that the testing suggested by the OP will be very expensive. Not only for the tests, but it will require all kinds of government leeches to regulate, demonstrate, interpolate....jeeze.

The money would be much better spent making hydroxychloroquine available on the shelf in every pharmacist facility on demand.

You’re exactly right, and the overwhelming of our medical system is how this monster aims to win.

We simply don’t have enough equipment to deal with an onslaught of cases, the staff will get overworked, burnt out and infected.

And there’s a whole bunch of people in this country that do not understand this or don’t care.

All the RATS get to service nation’s hoods! Now that’d be entertaining! Need body cams for that!

“Gee, does that mean that Trump MIGHT beat Biden in November?”

To be honest, I don’t even know what America will look like in November

Joe Biden is not relevant.

Has anyone thought of taking a handful of Chinese test kits to test their accuracy against a live victim with symptoms, live victim w/out symptoms, and survivor of course of illness?

Other countries are reporting false readings. Why should our country be an exception?

Although that number might seem impossibly high, that’s just how doubling works.

And if it keeps up, by the end of May we will see over 2 billion (with a "b") deaths, in the United States alone! That translates to over 40 billion (again, with a "b") in the entire world.

Oh, NO!

Us too! It’s a party for two every day. We play our music, drink our wines and bbq steaks or salmon almost daily. A movie every night. A 2 mile hike most days in approved government trails. We refuse to bow down to panic and fear. With stores being closed, all we buy is food and drink! There is one other thing that has improved...but not appropriate for this couple to discuss.lol. Keep your spirit up!

Regarding the doubling, i.e., exponential growth:

I’ve been going to the Johns Hopkins coronavirus site and clicking on the name of a country in the list on the left side. When you do that, the graph on the bottom right shows confirmed cases in that country. In most cases it shows an upward bending curve.

But if you change the view by clicking on “daily increase” under that graph, it shows a bar graph of new cases each day. Some of the countries are getting interesting now, with new cases either leveling off or even falling (although I distrust weekend numbers).

Just something to watch if you’re interested. What we’re looking for is the graph of a country to start to look like China’s, only with real numbers not fake ones. It appears that the doubling every two to three days doesn’t last very long once the cases start accelerating upward—about two to three weeks before they start leveling off in most countries.

And there’s a whole bunch of people in this country that do not understand this or don’t care.

We live in Eastern King County Washington along with half a million Chimese immigrants many who visit China frequently. Last year a high percentage of the 3 million people who came from China to the USA arrived at SeaTac. After the travel ban went into effect over 10,000 Chinese citizens in February diverted to Vancouver International a three hour drive away and continued pouring into Washington with essentially no health screening.

In Eastern King County our deaths and cases peaked about a week ago. The hospital intensive care units are already back to normal. Yet you would not know this from the breathless coverage by the news media or our governor who are determined to keep people alarmed and afraid. The primary reason I know this is because of my contacts on the fire department that I retired from and my wife's friends... she is a retired nurse.

The reason it is in decline here is not because of social distancing or anything else the government has done... it is because this virus was spreading around the area courtesy of he many people who had visited China and then visited or returned to their homes and jobs here before it was initially detected. It reached its peak in this immediate area and now is declining.

This thing is a threat, no doubt about that. It is just not as much of a threat in this country as it has been in some other places. I read a breathless story this morning about a hospital in New York that lost a dozen people in a day! My wife worked in skilled nursing homes that lost a dozen people in a day during a bad flu season... no reporting was done on that and the public never took any notice. We have faced much worse health crisis than this one in this country in the past.

That’s good to know, because if it does overwhelm our ability to treat the disease, then is when deaths will rise and transmission will increase.

We have to stay in front.

1. To be honest, I don’t even know what America will look like in November
2. Joe Biden is not relevant.

NOVEMBER, 2020
1. It's my OPINION that we'll be looking back saying: "April, oh yeah, we were all freaked out about the corollavirus."
"The WHAAAAaat?"
"Yeah, you know, that bug we were all supposed to get."
"Oh, the CORONAVIRUS."
Yeah, whatever.

2. Speaking of Joe Biden: Overheard at a Stanford-Cal game:
Hey Joe!!
HEY!!! JOE!!!
HEY JOE!!!!
Joe who?

JOE MAMA!!!
