There are economic (or PR) consequences to on-line classes - no (or few) students on campus for most or all of the academic year means either the school refunds (or doesn’t collect) room and board costs, or they keep those funds and alienate their clientele. In addition, they’ve got support staff (like dining hall workers) that they either have to pay for doing little or nothing, or that they have to lay off, generating a potential PR disaster as per Harvard.

The net result no matter how they play it is a school under the stress they generated by their own stupidity may not be able to survive the additional stress of the virus shutdown, which probably couldn’t have come at a worse time for them.

- greatly increase technical colleges to handle all the manufacturing that will be returning to the USA.
