This is just like Katrina....the federal gov’t is there to supplement state emergency plans, not to do all the work.
Democrats want to talk about 2 months wasted. Well, no state seems to have prepared either.
So, where was the person sounding the alarm during those 2 months?
The CDC and Fauci were saying the Wuhan Virus was not a serious threat. Trump echoed them...so did Democrats who touted China parades and go about your business.
The FACT is that it was China and the WHO that lied in the early stages. This falls on their shoulders, not Trump, not Democrats, not the US.
Now, we are seeing how slow our systems work. The approval process for tests, treatments, etc is broken and slow, the procurement process for equipment is outdated and slow....hampered by a lack of domestic production as well. After the H1N1, Congress did not allocate funds to replenish our national stockpiles of medical equipment. The budget kept growing massively, but basic services and emergency preparedness were not important to Congress.
States were unprepared as well. They did not keep their stockpiles filled nor matching population changes.
So, anyone who wants to lay blame on Trump or Democrats is just playing politics.
This was a failure first and foremost by China.
CDC said this thing couldn't go from animal to human.
Fauci said back in January this wasn't a big deal.
WHO wasn't sounding an alarm.
Should the stockpile have been brought back up to authorized levels? Sure. But bammy didn't bring it back up either.
This will be the play book going into the Fall.
Trump dithered and people died and the economy collapsed. Obama gave Trump a growing economy and because of his inability in handling this virus, just as it was finally recovering it was ruined. Just look back at how well O’Bama and old Joe handled the Swine flu. We didn’t shut down the whole country and it didn’t cause massive deaths because we had leadership that knew what they were doing. Leadership who mobilized the federal government to fight the scourge rather than leaving the States to fend for themselves. We can’t chance four more years of this level of incompetence.
Be prepared. This is why you get the CNN/PBS question every presser about couldn’t you have acted sooner? They already have the scripts written. Expect to see a lot of Fauci and others being interviewed and expounding on all the mistakes Trump made and how he didn’t listen to them early on when it could have made a difference. By the time November comes around the country will believe Trump created the virus in the east wing and spread it around so his buddies in big business could get rich and he could kill off a lot of black and brown people who vote democrat.

Interesting that the AP and Washington Post both have extensive hit pieces with supposed many hours of “research” on Trump’s supposed lack of preparedness published the same day, a few days after ancient corrupt hag Pelosi and lying Schiff started public shrieking about hearings on unpreparedness for the pandemic. Seems like there is a bit of coordination here, doesn’t there? The “press” is nothing more than the propaganda office of the Democratic party.
