I have TP to trade for venison.
Time to hoard bacon...vienna sausages.
‘Time to add hunger to the list of inconveniences in Americans lives’
no one is going to starve if he/she doesn’t wish to do so; legumes and grains will adequately provide substantial protein for a lengthy period...
> according to their union <
Yes, I know how corrupt unions can be. I could tell you a weeks worth of stories.
But this one area where unions are very useful, even vital. No one in management cares much about the safety of the workers. Its a PR thing as much as anything else - I saw that first hand from working in a steel mill.
Reuters - I will get the truth of this elsewhere
DITTO!
I did a consulting gig with a large meat processing company almost 20 years ago. My impression from the couple times I was out at some of the plants is that they largely hired illegals even back then.
Last Summer/Fall I was in Middle Tennessee some, and there were billboards advertising somewhat decent hourly wages and benefits for meat processing jobs. I wondered if it wasn’t partly because of Trump’s success in getting illegals to self-deport.
On May 29, 2013, WH Group, then known as Shuanghui Group or Shineway Group, the largest meat producer in China, announced the purchase of Smithfield Foods for $4.72 billion.
Darn! Now people are hoarding large text?
Don’t do that if you’re on your desktop. All things will enlarge.
If you do, just do control -
YES. Have for some time.
I’ve wondered that too.
Maybe they’re just shipping the pork straight to China and the ‘illness’ is a cover.
Throw out the illegals and AUTOMATE the effin plant!
That we have these processors run like this is rediculous.
Gov Neom on Fox, sidestepping and pitching the goobermint line.
Very disappointing.
There are a whole lot of Somalis working there now (just beef, no pork at this location), and I'd be more worried about things like tuberculosis than coronavirus.
The guy who died was 78, and still working.
The entire plant will be shut down starting tomorrow, for a thorough disinfecting.
Saul Sanchez, 78 years old.
What part of "co-morbidities" are the "jernalists" not understanding?
Note that the two losers who wrote this article, Tom Polansek and Rod Nickel, didn't bother to provide us with the facts about Saul Sanchez.
“Cant help but wonder if the breakout at the Smithfield facility has anything to do with it being China-owned.”
I am sure there is some of that. They been pushing the story about the swine flew and pork supply for the last 2 years yet pricing has been very low.
How many of the employees went back to South America?
‘-’ key zooms out.
Smithfield was sold to Shuanghui International in 2013. They have ChiCom ties.
Smithfield is the source of the raw material, crude heparin, made from pig intestine which is used to make 25% of the blood thinner drug heparin used in the US. According to the FDA in 2014 China provides 50% of the heparin used in the USA.
In 2007 China dumped adulterated heparin active ingredients on the US and other countries. The result was deaths and permanent organ damage to many heparin recipients, including children.
So by owning the the largest pork producer in the USA, the Chinese even have control over the raw materials we need to make heparin here in the US. Heparin is absolutely vital for major surgery and dialysis.
I’m eating venison jerky as I read this thread
That Smithfield plant produces pork products. Bacon shortage coming right up!!
