Blacks, Hispanics, Old Seniors kept trapped, on the NYC slave plantation by Obama, Clinton, GW Bush, Cuomo, De Blasio, with all their ills, Medical, Cardiac illness, Diabetes, Drugs, Alcohol, Mental Sickness, long term poverty, homeless, etc..

Obama screwed African-Americans...100% and sadly American Blacks do not have a clue!!! “SAD”!!!

Perhaps because so many in NYC suffer from TDS, they would rather drown in their own mucus than take a medication promoted by the President. Perhaps the same goes for a great number of physicians, as demonstrated by the sweet Trump hating couple in Florida that tore down a neighbor’s flag. Think they’d ever prescribe hydroxychloroquine?

Europe as a whole is indicating a much worse “mortality” rate that the US as a whole....

Dense population. Duh.

Philadelphia has 136 deaths, NYC has 8,900. Population density doesn't account for having a death rate 65 times higher.

More likely, they're classifying every natural death to corona in hopes of getting more aid dollars and consolidating power.

My theory is that traveling in subways means the folks who catch it do so with a high viral load.

“Under such circumstances the virus receives a massive jump start, leading to a massive innate immune response, which will struggle to control the virus to allow time for acquired immunity to kick-in while at the same time leading to considerable inflammation and a cytokine storm.

“For most of us, it’s hard to see how we could receive such a high dose; it’s going to be a rare event. In the COVID-19 clinic, the purpose of PPE is to prevent such large exposures leading to high dose infection.”

https://www.sciencemediacentre.org/expert-reaction-to-questions-about-covid-19-and-viral-load/

Those of us in more spread out areas, where almost no one ever spends time in a metal tube with a lot of strangers, may catch it in some repeated tiny doses, giving our bodies more time to ramp up a defense.

I also suspect general filth in a city raises the problem, which may be why Tokyo has done better than NYC.

Read this statement from the CDC. Key takeaway: They are counting people who have never even been tested for COVID-19 as "probable cases" that are now added to the overall COVID death count.

Following new CDC guidelines: "As of April 14, 2020, CDC case counts and death counts include both confirmed and probable cases and deaths. This change was made to reflect an interim COVID-19 position statement issued by the Council for State and Territorial Epidemiologists on April 5, 2020. The position statement included a case definition and made COVID-19 a nationally notifiable disease.

A confirmed case or death is defined by meeting confirmatory laboratory evidence for COVID-19. A probable case or death is defined by i) meeting clinical criteria AND epidemiologic evidence with no confirmatory laboratory testing performed for COVID-19; or ii) meeting presumptive laboratory evidence AND either clinical criteria OR epidemiologic evidence; or iii) meeting vital records criteria with no confirmatory laboratory testing performed for COVID19" [source]

This change is a further example of one of the many reasons why the label "confirmed cases" (used by some to designate total cases) is incorrect (see definitions for more details). The US CDC (and Worldometer) has always used the label "Total Cases." Canada is another example where the "total number includes publicly reported confirmed and probable cases [source]

On April 14, New York City reported 3,778 additional deaths that have occurred since March 11 and have been classified as "probable," defined as follows: “decedent [...] had no known positive laboratory test for SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) but the death certificate lists as a cause of death “COVID-19” or an equivalent" [source].

From April 14 onward, New York City has provided - and will continue to provide - the updated number of probable deaths in its daily reports.

On April 15, in the daily press briefing, New York Governor Cuomo said that "we will begin reporting all categories of fatalities pursuant to new CDC guidelines and are contacting facilities to get updated numbers." He also added that there may be additional people who died that have not been counted because not in a hospital. In the April 15 update, the New York State Department of Health official website had still not included (nor reported separately) the additional "probable" deaths reported by New York City the day before. On April 16, when asked about the issue, New York State officials commented on their decision to not add the New York City probable deaths in the official State count saying that probable deaths have been reported by New York City in a new and separate category, without adding the two numbers (confirmed and probable) together into a single category.

I think part of it may be the number of infected international arrivals funneled into NYC from Laguardia, JFK & Newark. A high% of people arriving in those airports stay in the NY area.

Then there are many more travelers of mass transit per capita than anywhere else in the USA.
There are lots of sections with high density of people, multi generational in tiny apartments sharing bedrooms & bathroom. Many of the newly immigrated (legal & illegal) share apartments with many young men or with several families.
The number of vagrants, the abandonment of health laws such as against public urination, the lifestyle where offices are open plan cubicles, people gather at bars, restaurants & night clubs, even the streets in Manhattan are cheek to jowl, all of these factors may have contributed.

Yes, then throw in cool temperatures, and one of the other main concerns, transfer of virus via health care professionals. Healthcare workers will have killed thousands when this is finally over.

Reporting. Don’t confuse reported numbers with actual numbers. The rats have incentive to inflate the actual numbers.

Social distancing means a different thing in NYC, 27,000 people per square mile, than in AK, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, ME or others where you average 1.2 to about 60 /sq. mile.
I suppose in AK they could pass a law where they have to stay at least 2 miles apart instead of 1.
Thank you Lord, that governors can make decisions based on the uniqueness of their state.
I still am not convinced that forbidding assembly, or religious gatherings is permitted by our Constitution/Bill of Rights. They seem to leave the press, and speech alone. Petition??? a lot of that is on the way, YTBD, we will be taking action and hopefully reigning in the state powers.

“New York/NYC Mortality Rates shockingly high - Why?”

Maybe because de Blowsthehole originally said “COVID-19”...nothing to worry about...just continue your daily lifestyle of exposure?

“Think they’d ever prescribe hydroxychloroquine?”

In NYC, the clinical trial was supposedly limited to only 4000 hospialized patients. NYC total hospitalizations have long since topped 35,000.

No results have yet to be reported about the 4000 including level of severity when administered the treatment, underlying conditions, or results in general.

With dense populations come people of all types. Immune deficient, obese, diabetic, underlying heath issues, and in large numbers.

Two reasons (IMO), an unhealthier population with respect to other existing medical conditions, and the way NYC is calculating deaths associated w/ COVID 19.

I’d say about 20% of American Blacks are aware of this fact.

Agreed. Understanding why West Coast did better than NYC is essential Even more important than establishing blame we need to identify the causes for NYC’s severe course and ready a plan for the next time. If it is the subway/mass transit a plan can help.

If an outbreak is detected mass transport could be shut down early for 2 weeks. Plans for remote work should be in place at any companies where that solution works. They should think about remote working on a rotating basis all the time so that the system functions smoothly.

Essential large employers could work out a deal with hotels or plan bus pickups of their workers from designated sites. Even though that would be a modified mass transport they could supply masks & gloves & do spot temperature checks pre-boarding, much safer.

NY numbers are not out of line with Europe??” What numbers are you looking at?

NY state numbers are 900 per million population (Worldometer) yesterday. Spain, Italy and France are half that. And if you look just at the 5 boroughs the rate per million ar over 1000 deaths. There’s no country or city, except maybe the city of Wuhan, even close.

How about Canada? Germany? 40-50 deaths per million. Forget Japan at 2??

It’s hard to believe that if Cuomo did nothing that it could be worse.
