Here in PA our butthead governor “requested” that retailers deny service to unmasked customers.

I’ve written to all retailers telling them if they enforce it on me I won’t be their customer in the future.

Everyone should be wearing a mask, while in enclosed public spaces, and crowded sidewalks. S. Korea only has about 1/10th the number of cases/million people as the USA. Koreans wear masks in public. It makes a huge difference, with little effort.

Wearing a mask mainly protects other people. If you’re infected but asymptomatic, you could easily infect other people, in close proximity. Mask wearing would accelerate the return to a semblance of normalcy; because the practice would reduce the number of new cases.

A homemade mask is better than no mask at all. E.g. a mask made out of an old polyester-blend T-shirt is about 70% as effective as a medical mask — and that’s enough to prevent a lot of new cases. Fewer cases mean a faster return to normal.

You'd think they've already lost enough business because of this panic...and Walmart.

Watch Walmart online prices and shipping rates.

I haven’t noticed too much of an increase; AMAZON, however, is seriously price gouging.

I don’t have a problem wearing a mask; why shouldn’t I protect myself? Seems silly not to.

The people dying in the acute longterm care centers are not spreading the disease — because they’re obviously isolated from the rest of the population. The people with obvious symptoms are usually self-isolating because they don’t feel well and know to stay home and recover.

But as they’ve come to realize, many people get infected but have strong enough immunity not to have symptoms — but they have the infection and can spread it to others. That is the problem — for which they say in that case that the mask will be helpful — in preventing the spread to others.

But an even more compelling argument would be that it also protects one from getting the disease from others as much — rather than promoting the idea that a barrier only works one way. As every kindergartner knows, the kleenex works on either side — just like the toilet paper, or towels. You don’t need to have a Ph.D. in epidemiology to realize that.

But you claimed runners were super spreaders of the virus without any facts to back up your argument. And athletes were apparently getting it at a very high rate, even from their opponents, which is weird since there haven’t been any sports for what, a month? And who are “ they” that say? Wearing a mask, especially for the public in general accomplishes what exactly? I see people wearing masks constantly adjusting their mask at the store and then touching items on the shelf. In my opinion, people just want to be “on the team” so they can claim they are saving lives, therefore giving some meaning to their own life.
