Exactly in the range of the # of people who can be expected to die from taking Plaquenil.

Actually, a good chunk of the inmates are in poor health. Many are drug users, crack heroin, etc. Not as healthy as general population.

Glad to hear that you and your wife got through it. I have seen the theory that the severity of the disease may be linked to how big a dose of viral particles you receive on initial infection. Having a small number of virus particles allows the body to have more time before the disease gets out of control.

Those getting a heavy dose of viral particles sometimes develop infections that are so extensive, the body simply cannot keep up.

Another diabolical thing about this virus is that it can hide from your immune system for quite awhile, and sometimes when your immune system finally recognizes the infection, it over reacts.

Really. nice with the insult. show me any reasonable data that we have changed the course of this disease one whit. show me that we have stopped one person from contracting it now or in the future. Common sense as perceived by ignorant people may be common but it is not sense

Tarp it and fumigate. Send the guards home, though

I have common sense; ergo, I don’t need much data....unless you consider the number of doctors who won’t be scheduling office appointment s for a while. Would you consider 100% of the people I know in the health care business believe it can and should be avoided as sufficient data? It works for me.

I’m sure your common sense trumps data. Where have you been for all of human history. We have been waiting for you.

>> The prison is a ‘perfect’ closed ecosystem <<

And in that little fantasy world, prison would be a perfect place to “dry out,” free from drugs.

bort points out worse than average health in a prison population at his post #43.

I might add that the standards of personal hygiene in a criminal oriented population are probably worse than in a population that works hard enough to afford a cruise.

I bet they’re even higher in a disciplined shipboard military crew.

“The only curve any plan should be based on is the hospitalization curve.”

Absolutely correct. The rationale for the lockdown was to prevent the healthcare system from being overwhelmed.

We can declare victory on that. Even NY did not tax it’s healthcare capacity. In my state, we have barely scratched the surface of capacity and new cases are trending down.

So why are we keeping the lockdown firmly in place? To prevent deaths? Well, everyone is going to get this virus eventually. So all we are doing is postponing the inevitable at the expense of the economy.

At this point, the lockdown is wholly political in most states, based on the calculation that the worse the economy, the more likely Trump loses.

"One staff death was announced on April 8. No inmates have died"

That’s a death rate of 0.05%

You got to be careful here. Always keep the rampant dishonesty of the MSM in mind.

This story doesn't say that the staff member died of the Chinese COVID - it just says one death was announced. For all we know, the staff member died in a car wreck or had a heart attack. Maybe it was the COVID thing, but always remember - this is how the MSM lies to us.

Yes I do care if I spread it to others...I actually want my young family to get it so they will be asymptomatic and they will be immune when they are older. This herd immunity will help people like you. You can thank me anytime.

Let’s infect those on death row and find a cure.

All were tested. The remaining ones were negative. It would be interesting to do antibody tests on the negatives to see if they have had it and beaten it already.

Well, according to in-the-know people, there is no way they were ever exposed without having symptoms of the dead and dying. I mean, if you’ve been exposed you’re as good as dead, right?

I will when I hear we from a reliable source that we have achieved herd immunity. Fair enough?

This morning I heard a doc on FNC say that won’t happen until 90+% of the population have the antibodies.

These “germ factories” are actually a great way to check out what really happens...

Good point.

Which leads to this: perhaps we know enough about the Wuhan Flu to be concerned about what we don't know.

For instance, is the U.S. and every other nation so affected simply a walking lab for developing a highly transmissible virus that produces no symptoms; i.e., a potential vehicle?

Perhaps what we have now was just not quite ready for prime time. If so, we should hope Trump has good intel.

If the goal is eradication I heard 90% too. If the goal is no more than a seasonal recurrence affecting a small percentage of people (like the flu), then I think 60% does the job.
