You’re going to have to do better than this.

Laughable.

My feeling is densely populated cities and any densely populated living environments with common living areas between people get hit hard with this virus and other places don’t. It seems like one policy or another has had little effect on changing that.

The South Korean model of intensive contact-tracing and mass testing is the only thing that might’ve worked to stop the spread, but it’s clear now this country and its states are so far off from knowing how to do that and being ready to do it that they still aren’t ready to do it. So there was nothing here to stop the spread. Given that reality, the virus got sprinkled everywhere quickly but only really thrived in dense populations.

I believe they might.

Well, they're not above doing that.

I have personal knowledge of the system, too. And I’ve helped several people negotiate through the system. Yes, it’s tough. Everyone knows it. Complaining and throwing a keyboard temper tantrum is what a crybaby snowflake would do.

Full disclosure: I campaigned for Desantis, have met him several times, and once even he called me. He was my Congressman, and I called his office probably 100 times. And always, always, always, received any help I asked for. He’s fantastic.

Yes, our unemployment system is one of the worst, if not the worst, system in America. But nobody in power knew it until it got hit hard and crashed. And then the guynin charge lied about the severity, and about how he was fixing it. Desantis had to fire him. That was what, 10 days ago? But you want what you want, when you want it. Have you tried screaming while beating your legs and arms on the ground?

Desantis has been in office 15 months. He’s fixed a ton of Shiite in the state, put 3 conservatives on the SC, and had the testicular fortitude to not shut the state down when the crybabies screamed “we’re all gonna die!” )Were you one of those, too?)

But you trash him because what, he didn’t foresee the nightmare that nobody else did, and didn’t look into his crystal ball and fix something nobody knew was broke, before it did? Well, Mr. Prescient, did you know? Did you predict it? No? Do you really think Ron is holding up your check somehow, sitting in an office not signing your check?

Yes, the system sucks. No, it’s not Ron’s fault. Yes, he’s doing whatever it takes to fix it. But that’s not good enough for you, so you throw a brave keyboard tantrum like a baby snowflake pooping its diaper.

Saying you won’t vote for Ron because he somehow refuses to send you a check is exactly what a whiny, spoiled, snowflake would do. Grow up, stop complaining. Do what you can to help.

Other than that, hope you are doing well.

I could retire, so probably older than you, I’m an old SOB to you, not a millennium throwing tantrums. First time in my life was “Furloughed” Furlough terms means nothing outside of government, laid-off!

The system has been broke since Scott broke it on purpose.

It’s broken. How does adding 10,000 servers help when the system is now shut down 12 plus hours a day. Wasn’t in March. They have disabled most all features in it. That’s improvement. I know I live it. My representatives and Senator are trying to get to the bottom of it. The DOE does not respond to them either. No luck in three weeks.

They have paid 4% of claims at the lowest rate in the nation. Let me reword that of the 800,000 claims they have 96% of the people can’t get a response...... You call that fixed.

Please consider me an old SOB. You are wrong and tote the company line like a liberal on steroids.

I’ve been around for awhile, too. Us old farts should know better.

I know the status they’re reporting on the news. I also know a few people who did get paid via direct deposit. I think it’s probably higher than 6%, or whatever they report, but also know Ron is doing everything he can to get peiple paid. He’s no soacker. In fact, I wouldn’t want to be the people holding anything up. He doesn’t fook around with incompetence. I’ve seen it. You know he was a Navy Officer, right? regardless, simple question:

What would you have done differently than Desantis did?

NY also crashed and burned. Many states not much better off. Nobody designed their systems to tolerate a 2000% load, for weeks. I’ve done a fair amount of computer systems. When have maybe 6 servers doing something, and suddenly need 100 !ore, and have to get them operational yesterday, without taking down the current system, it’s going to be no picnic. That’s just for taking and processing applications.

The payment system was just as underpowered. And he had a liar saying, “Don’t worry, Gov! We got it!” While he was working 24/7 with fed, state, locals trying to get a handle on an epidemic killing people daily. Suddenly, he had to do their job for them, too—the unemployment system.

I honestly love the guy, and think your anger at him is misplaced. They are all doing the best they can, and it will be fixed, literally ASAP. Desantis is a Trump protege, and works on Trump time. Hang in there.

I’m going to ride my bike on the beach right now, and not wear a mask, not helmet. It’s a nice day.

P.s. I work for myself and am not getting paid right now, at all. Zero. It will get better.

De Santis has got to go with Kemp and just open up again. One of the problems is that we have a few fascist mayors and county commissioners here, so he can’t do it with a magic wand. But he should just issue a new set of guidelines...actually, not based on the impossible WH plan - but on practicality.

People here in Florida have begun to flout most of the “guidelines” anyway, and people I thought were total pro-government folks and would never criticize any idiotic government overreaction shut down are starting to just do their own thing now, whether it means getting secret haircuts to quietly patronizing a retail store through the back door.

I was sorry that Trump appeared to criticize Kemp...although I think what he really meant to do was affirm individual governors in doing something that the WH guidelines would not necessarily have permitted, although of course the press used the sound bite and that’s all you hear now. De Santis should just carry on now. Otherwise, since I live in North Florida, people are just going to cross the border to get their haircut ...LOL!

Also, not noted was the fact that barbers, tattoo artists, etc. in Georgia have to have disposable everything, wear those stupid plastic shields, etc. And the customers have to wear masks and jump through all sorts of other hoops. Idiotic, but at least they’re open and there’s no way you could criticize the protection.

Why would heard immunity work for this virus when it doesn’t work with the flu?

Herd immunity DOES work with the flu. The vast majority of flu patients never even see a doctor - they just get better. I am 68 and I’ve gotten the flu once or even twice a year all my life and never once saw a doctor for it. Same with my entire family and most everyone I know. Tens of millions or even hundreds of millions are like me - literally most people.

We get the flu and it never gets reported - it just gets spread everywhere, most of us build an immunity after a week and it goes away. When a high enough % of the population is immune, the virus encounters too many “dead ends” and dies. That’s herd immunity. It happens every year.

Yes, out of the hundreds of millions in the USA who get the flu, tens of thousands do get sicker and even die after having the flu, and that will happen with Covid-19 too. We should try to protect these at-risk people and help them any way we can.

But the irony here is that, while trying to protect these at-risk people through “social distancing”, what if we prevent normal herd immunity from happening? Then we really haven’t protected the at-risk people at all l, have we? We have put them at more at risk by keeping the virus alive in the general population.

Look, I’m not trying to take away from doctors or modern medical science - they are the most amazing people. But nature is infinitely more amazing.

When my wife grows tomato seedlings from seeds - then plants and nurtures the seedlings and produces tomatoes, she proudly says “I grew these!” Then, humbly, she smiles and says “Actually, I took these magical seeds and put them in the magical soil, and they just grew...”

Again, not to take anything away from doctors, or scientists, or gardeners, but we have to be humble here... nature holds all the power - doctors just try to understand it and facilitate it.

When we get a cut, it heals and when we break a bone, it heals (but it helps to have a doctor who can make sure it heals or sets right). The same with a virus... it’s always our body’s that kill the virus - even with a vaccine that’s what is happening..

I think the best doctors are the ones who respect what the body is capable of, and leverage that knowledge to facilitate nature.

I’m not knocking medical science - in fact, everything I learned about herd immunity was from reading things written by doctors.

But that’s not really immunity is it? I mean people still get sick from the flu, then can still pass on the flu and it comes roaring back every year, how is that “immunity”? I mean maybe temporarily, you get it January and you don’t get it again in February, your anti bodies die down and then you can get it all over again next fall/winter. Temporary immunity maybe. Isn’t the point that the health care system can’t handle the flu and the Covid-19? Every winter we get 60,000 deaths from the flu and 100,000 deaths from Covid 19? At least until there is a vaccine for it.

Oh - I see your question.

It is a different influenza virus that we are battling each flu season. The majority of us are immune from the flu virus from the previous year, because of herd immunity - but we still face new variants each year.

The age-old process of developing natural herd immunity, and our bodies’ ability to fight off “the flu” and “the common cold” each season is ongoing, and needs to start over each season because it’s a different virus.

This is exactly why the flu shot vaccine is NOT the “magic bullet” that the Big Pharma lobby claims it is. It takes many months and even years to develop a vaccine for each new virus, and by then, natural herd immunity has already done its work, and a new virus is upon us, different than the one the current “flu shot” was designed to inoculate.

But paid-off politicians, bureaucrats and doctors won’t tell you this.. why? Because Big Pharma can’t make any money off of herd immunity. Pure and simple.
