China’s culinary habits may kill us all yet.
So cultural things (confederate flag and monuments) should remain because you know cultural things are good. Or are some cultural things more cultural than others?
Is this another chinese propaganda article?
Wet markets in China; politicians’ wet dreams in America ... pretty much the same result.
Simple answer - the virus started in a lab, not the wet markets. :)
Based on the ‘it’s cultural’ perhaps we should ignore the Amazonian tribes culture of cannibalism, or tell the descendants of the Aztec and Mayan peoples it is OK to cut people’s hearts out and drink the blood. Nope.
Nice try, lady. How about we just shut all of China down.

After we pull our factories out of China and no one has any reason to go there again and we strictly control travel to here, who cares what crap they eat?
The author has nostalgia for back when people were dying en masse from dysentery and cholera... We’ve had refrigeration for a hundred years now... use it.
What we should shut down is all trade with communist countries, especially China.
Pathetic arguments. Headhunting is cultural as well. Should that be continued?
Exactly. Problem solved.
So, let me get this straight - this person feels nostalgic because her mother went to a wet market to gossip, so it’s okay to keep them going even though they could infect the entire planet with a killer disease.
Actually, the piece reads more like blatant propaganda.
Regarding Chinese wet markets......
I have seen no conclusive evidence the virus originated from meat sold in an open market. Such markets have existed world wide since the beginning of human civilization
There is rumor and supposition and extrapolation but no proof.
The apparently superior rumor is that the virus somehow escaped from a biological laboratory dealing in viruses causing various diseases
American scientists have apparently had dealings with the lab to share data on infectious bacteriological and viral disease.
Bats have been noted. America has/had a problem with the bat borne strain of rabies that could be/was transmitted to other animals and possibly humans. Therefore, the collaboration out of the political level and in the scientific lavel was justified as an important public health matter.
China is now the world whipping boy so even though the real cause is known it may never be revealed...... at least uil after the election

******
Having traveled extensively in Asia and having lived in China as an expat for two years I know a little about wet markets. Theyre cultural for sure but theyre also a necessity. Being that the vast majority of Chinese dont have a refrigerator its necessary for them to make purchases, especially protein. Btw, wet markets are common all over the world. Theyre not unique to China.
Ban all travel to and from China or anyone who has been to China from another country in the last 60 days without full quarantine or optional physical and blood tests at the expense of the traveler.
If the wet markets are that important to them, do that.
I could give two craps about what is important to damned Chinese effing culuture.
All cultures are equal and must be respected even if they make you want to throw up. /s
Agreed. Kick their savage asses out of the WTO and revoke their MFN status. Those are for civilized countries.
China aint one.

So no Foster chicken then ready to eat at the supermarket?
Maybe relocate the Wuhan virus lab to say Peking.
