Despair, anxiety, bankruptcies, suicide, reduced productivity, diminishment of life expectancy as well as “quality of life,” and postponement of elective surgeries (just one example of undoubted millions: my wife’s mother is going blind but corrective treatment has been put off indefinitely) are some of the consequences of the great “flattening.”

 

THIS is actually the feared "2nd wave" of illness that is befalling us, now. There's been a ramping up of ambulance runs in my area for serious sounding calls. Mostly elderly, suffering chest pains with difficulty breathing, confusion and then unconsciousness, unconscious people who cannot be awakened, vomiting with confusion sometimes going unconscious. Rather unusually serious. Very likely people who have had critical medical care interrupted due to the rush to shut everything down without a plan. There's been a rise in fire calls too - boats, cars, pickups, tractors bursting into flame and burning up. Sometimes sheds with vehicles in them and even homes too. Sounds like a spate of insurance fraud is on a roll, and they'll probably get away with it. The county fire marshal has a poor record of fingering and prosecuting arsonists, so we all get to indirectly pay for that fraud.
