And if you needed that gun to defend yourself thats laying there on the ground? Your dead!
Conceptually it’s a good idea. And I’m for it. But none of the ideas I’ve seen bandied about will work for crap. Give us an idea that’s not stupid, actually technically possible, will allow you to “bond” the gun to the whole household, and not just encourage thieves to steal more crap so they can use your hot guns and we’ll go for it.
More likely that they won't be able to be fired by the person who needs it, when they need it. My iphone has a fingerprint reader on it, it's hardly flawless.
You have to understand that Leftists authors are too stupid to create an article without help, so that is two, and then add a commissar, to provide Party approval of content.
Three is the minimum. Old habits die hard.
Sure.
I am really, REALLY interested in having some electronic, battery powered subsystem in my gun to ensure it fires.
Not.
Battery run down. Defects in system. Extra complication. Electronic tracking. Possibility of jamming by “authorized law enforcement”. Etc.
All this, when your life could depend on getting a shot off in seconds.
What a bunch of douchebag idiots.
It’s a computer. What could possibly go wrong?
.
The mechanisms are NOT reliable and only would make sure that some large percentage dont work when they are needed (by the public).
They also drive up prices significantly whether they work or not.
Impose similar ‘smart’ taxation and the IRS would cease operating. Leftists don’t want guns that WORK in the hands of the people.
.
Yep. If cops are concerned about having their weapon taken and used against them, and the police unions agree to it, let them go full bore and do it.
I want something I can clean and lubricate to keep in reliable working order, not something I have to get firmware updates on, watch battery levels on, and so on.
[[Nearly half of gun owners in the U.S. would consider buying a smart gun]]
= = =
I considered it, for about 1.2 milliseconds.
And rejected it.
I have written to every major firearms manufacturer and major online distributor that I buy from to let them know what I think. The first one to put a “smart gun” on the market will be permanently boycotted by me. I love budsgunshop.com , but I will never buy from them again if they offer a “smart gun”. The same is true for Glock, S&W, Ruger, Colt, Les Baer, Wilson Combat, and many others. If I bought from them or own one of their products, they know that bringing out a “smart gun” will get them blacklisted forever. I don’t know how much they care, but I figure every little nudge in the right direction helps.
Three liars....more like it.
Just how many people would buy a “smart” fire extinguisher with a a way to limit who is allowed to use it?
Making certain that a child cannot protect a parent, that’s a great idea... NOT!!!
No FxxxING Way!!!
Mark
No. Thanks.
It certainly brings a whole new meaning to the "Blue Screen of Death!"
Mark
Not sure who the “Nearly half of gun owners” are who would buy a “smart gun” but I haven't met one.
So, infringement yes? Thinkin’ I’m not in favor. Of course you may if you wish. No argument on that.
No infringement. Just, potentially, using the technology available, if it gets that good, to improve a product. Well executed smart guns would be nothing more than a gun safe integrated into the gun.
“Please wait”
Smart gun HAL: Im sorry Dave, Im afraid I cant do that
The guns I had (Lost in fishing accident) were smart guns. I the (smart) user new when, where, and how to deploy them.
Yeah, I call shenanigans on that claim ;’}
