Why needlessly complicate a proven technology (thanks to Samuel Colt, Sergei Ivanovich Mosin, John Moses Browning, John T. Thompson, John Garand, Mikhail Kalashnikov, Eugene Stoner, and so many others) that continues to foster innovation and competition.
Would that other industries could do as well.
