Usual great car was the Buick Century. Yes, Nash (my parents had one so don’t laugh too hard) and some Chrysler Corporation cars, then great Buicks. See this story of some of the many amusing trivia details (21-50 was the true sign of the California Highway Patrol head at the time). Two door replaced by 4 door when increased arrest powers and variety of crimes were added. Tow bar on one car was to tow the film crew equipment. Funny.
At a parade years later the late Broderick Crawford’s son rode in a Buick patrol car his father drove in the old series.
