Laser focused as usual.
being called racist in 5.. 4... 3... 2...
I thought we did that months ago when we banned people from China from entering the country?
I thought they banned as of January 31st, not June 3rd. What’s going on??
UAL,AA and Delta are gonna luv that.
Chinese carriers were still allowed some flights. Not anymore.
“...banned as of January 31st... What’s going on??”
___
I’d like to know the answer to that question also.
Suspend the private flights of Chinese citizens into the US as well.
We should only allow Chinese citizens to fly OUT.
My understanding is that flights from China were temporarily banned because of the virus. Now they will be permanently banned until they start playing fair with us.
weren’t they already banned because of the virus?
We didnt ban the flights. We banned Chinese nationals who arent green card holders. U.S. citizens (and others) were still able to travel freely to and from China.
On January 31 Trump barred Chinese NATIONALS from entering the US.
He did not ban Chinese airlines from flying here. Indeed US Citizens and legal residents were permitted to return to the US, and some did so on Chinese airlines.
In truth he did not ban ALL Chinese nationals either as that order was riddled with exceptions.
This is the next up-ratchet in the trade war and has little to do with COVID directly.
They were temporarily, then allowed to start again with quarantine.
Now the loophole they will use is to fly in on other carriers, or transit from other nations (Canada).
The rules need to apply to Chinese passport holders, as well as their airlines. This is an economic sanction more than anything.
4 months late, but better than nothing.
Suspend any Chinese on any flight.
Apparently the devil is in the details of the wording. Trump thinks outloud, and those thoughts do not always translate into executable orders.
