Commutation merely gets him out of prison. Pardon does that plus makes conviction disappear.

Pardon requires admission of guilt. Stone did not commit a crime, so shouldn't have to admit guilt -- particularly for something the FBI refused to even charge McCabe for.

so that is why Sullivan is being paid to refuse to dismiss the case.

Do you have direct proof that Sullivan is being paid?! Why would you make up such a thing? It only weakens the conservative position when we spout nonsense.

Liberals, even liberal judges, are more than willing to go around the law in order to mess with Trump. They do not have to be paid to do atrocious things. That's who they are.

i’ve never heard that an admission of guilt is necessary to be pardoned.

See here:

The beneficiary of a pardon needs to accept the pardon. The Supreme Court stated in Burdick v. United States that acceptance of a pardon carries an "imputation of guilt" and is a confession to such guilt.

With a pardon the whole thing goes away forever.

With a commutation it just means he is still convicted but doesn’t serve time.

Maybe Stone wants to continue the fight and nail the judge.

Well, from what I’ve looked-up, it seems more complicated than that.

FR has LOTS of lawyers hanging around. Maybe someone will tell us what either might mean in Stone’s case.

yes, you’re right. Also, there’s a five year waiting period after the sentence has ended, so Stone would not qualify for a pardon at this time.

I'm not disagreeing with you.

Still, it would be nice for Barr to explain how Stone's sentence for lying is fair when the FBI, who admits that McCabe lied multiple times in interviews, refused to even charge McCabe.

I say ... let it go all the way to the Supreme Court if it has to go there. While I feel for Flynn, what else can they do to him, really.

He’s shown he is tough, he has a tougher lawyer, and in the end he is going to be okay, the worst is over. Like the swamp was goading POTUS to fire Mueller, the swamp wants POTUS to pardon Flynn before the judicial process plays out...b/c they know the longer it goes on the truth actually emerges and erases all their lies.

[Do you know anyone on the left today who will stand up and claim Alger Hiss was innocent after decades of claiming him innocent? Similarly ...and it did not take decades, I don’t hear the left talking up Mueller because they know he has been exposed as corrupt. Truth always wins, even if it has to swim across a river of lies to reach the other side.]

I’ve been corrected. (And probably will be several more times :^) The prisoner must accept responsibility for the crime and wait five years after the sentence is served in order to receive a pardon. Therefore Stone does not qualify.

Seriously? I'm not sure what that even means.

The fact it came from the Mueller investigation taints the credibility. And regardless of the actual merits of the case (and all I know is the narrative) the process was corrupt, contemptible, and designed to abuse.

Perhaps Barr should realize it's not the revolution from within the Justice Dept he should concern himself with, but the revolution aimed at the Justice Dept.
