There is almost zero testing or reporting for the flu in any year.
The CDC does phone surveys to estimate how many cases of flu occur.
Agreed.
See my post #11
Here in Washington state we do a lot of testing. A funny thing happened between the deaths on Monday to Tuesday. Tuesday 49 of those who were dead on Monday are now not dead, subtracted from the total. Bizarre.
Many of the larger cities have been pressuring Ivey to implement this state-wide order. Takes the pressure off the local politicians as they now can blame Ivey.
It’s an improvement over our local order since it does have a definitive expiration date not like the open ended order enacted by our local city council.
Still, it has some absurd effects.
For example, at my gym, one has to wear a mask while entering but after walking 20 feet to the active exercising area one can remove the mask. It’s about the size of a basketball court and it’s very easy to maintain six foot distancing. There is no internal partition to separate the active exercise area from the rest of the place.
Then there’s this in my local order:
My counties rules allow one to remove a mask while eating or drinking except when interfacing with the staff.
- enter restaurant wearing mask.
- remove mask once seated.
- when the server arrives to get drink order youre interfacing so the mask goes back on. Server leaves so you can remove mask.
- server brings drinks, youre interfacing so put the mask back on. Server leaves so you can remove mask.
- waiter arrives to take entree order, more interfacing, mask back on. waiter leaves so mask can come off.
wash, rinse, repeat.
A typical dinner would involve 10 masking/unmasking events. How stupid. Accomplishes nothing.
But...but...Avoid touching your face!
Oh for Christ’s sake.
I would love to know what he says about all this.
These lockdowns remind me of high school. The administrators would cancel our morning break because there was too much litter on the quad. It didnt matter that it was trash from the nearby liquor store that would blow on campus on breezy day. It was always the student bodys fault and everyone must be punished.
Not sure if you noticed that my post #21 was about influenza testing not Covid-19.
In any case, your post is informative.
I did see your post. No doubt that masks cause eye problems. In the 30-40 minutes it takes me to grocery shop with a bandana on my eyes become irritated. It also makes me lightheaded due to re-inhalation of the CO2 my body is trying to expel.
Alabama is fortunate. Michigan’s order from Whitless is eternal.
Pennsylvania Governor Wolf said last week that his order “could be extended indefinitely”.
I have a box of masks which I bought around 20 years ago. I originally got them for when I mow the lawn but just quit mowing when it is dry.
A couple of weeks ago I got the box out and read the directions. They basically said they were not good for anything. At least they qualify as masks,
How many Alabamans still buy products made by the ChiComs who secretly allowed the Chicom virus to get out of the lab and spread throughout the world?
Mamaw will extend this. I will bet my @$$.
She’s actually pretty good as Alabama governors go. Of course, we’ve had some real winners. I think her being older and having a thick Southern accent probably makes people think she is not too sharp. Everyone is still allowed to be bigoted about Southerners, we are used to it.
I walked into Walmart and felt the wind from the air conditioner blow through my mask. But, I was in compliance.
Out an about this afternoon, it felt like I was in an insane asylum.
Lots of Docs are now doing virtual visits.
Just a thought for those who might be a bit uneasy about that.
I’m not, but YMMV.
My doctor did that for maybe a week.
