Yep. I have a pack of masks from several years ago that were for residential use, to block paint fumes, sawdust, all that. I could slap one on and go anywhere, and they aren’t worth a warm bucket of spit.

This is why I call them Simon Sez masks. “Simon Sez, wear your mask for the next two weeks!” “Simon Sez, self-isolate for the next three weeks!” I still think it’s part of a larger social engineering experiment, to see just how much guff the public will take, and the demographic breakdown of those who won’t comply. There isn’t any one puppeteer, they’re working in concert. I don’t think this is ‘The Big One’, nationally or globally speaking. It’s like the old fire drills in grade school, seeing how quickly and efficiently the kids line up single file and march. They’re establishing an operational baseline for when they actually light the fire.
Probably for some people. For others it's not a big deal.
There are numerous studies showing they do work. Also most studies do not include masking the positives only the negatives. When you mask both positive and negative there will be a better effect.

Oh I agree! I call it ‘to see how much the people will tolerate’... and so far.. since WWII.. they tolerate it all pretty silently... as long as the comfort is there and the job is also... (we do work hard)... we tolerate much.
I have also said.. there has been no walking thru Europe in the cold and mud.. no living in a cold dark fox hole... not knowing how family is, for mail is not getting to you... and dead soldiers all around with no time nor place to bury the dead... that is part of WWII. and the ones who do not know what discomfort is... will sit and watch tv and get used to a socialistic living and loss of the very freedoms that give us what we are today.. hey, it isn’t worth the hassle... let someone else stop those pesky democrats. .. yeah they lie.. so does everyone else...
And that is how it goes.. not with me, but with too many. I have grandkids... i’d walk over hot coals to give them a good life... and I don’t tolerate any of this well...
