...oh, great....! the traffic down here in the greater Austin area sucks a big one now, and adding more people to the area will only make the traffic situation worse....I can hardly wait.....

...I agree with your observation..I don’t think
ANYthing would sway Travis County’s politics anywhere
in the direction of “right”......I live in Williamson
County...pretty conservative still.....

Austin is the San Francisco of Texas. Pick a more reputable neighborhood.

Austin is more like the Berkeley of Texas. There is no "there" in Austin, a real craphole with a tiny liberal party-atmosphere downtown. Really tiny. Other than a big Whole Foods store, not much to be impressed about. The only thing I liked was all the bats flying under the bridges over the river at night, less terrifying than the nose-ringed tattooed hippies.

It was down to Tulsa and Austin. He chose poorly. Probably good for Tulsa not to have like liberals moving in.

Go look at the performance numbers of the Model S P100D variant.

There literally isn’t any production four door sedan in the world that can out accelerate it.

I’m sure they picked Austin because it’s so “hip”. Poor old Tulsa didn’t have a chance.

It’s a new factory. Staff are being hired in Texas, not imported from California. What do you have against Texans getting 5K new jobs?

Not quite. They’re going to leverage off the suppliers in the area already set up to supply the massive Toyota plant a short hop away in San Antonio. They can also draw from the suppliers in DFW set up to supply the GM plant in Arlington with only a bit more delay.

Tulsa doesn’t have any of those.

It looks like Elon Musk changed his mind about that.
“Tesla Withdraws Alameda County Lawsuit as Fremont, CA, Factory Returns to Normal Operations”

With its Fremont, CA, factory operating once more, American electric car maker Tesla has decided to formally withdraw its lawsuit against Alameda County, which it filed earlier this month over officials’ refusal to allow the electric car production facility to reopen.

No, he changed his mind about the lawsuit, but not about moving Tesla HQ. Reportedly, the new HQ is to be built next to the new plant.

Pretty much the same thing that Toyota did. They opened the new San Antonio plant, then a few years afterwards they moved their North American HQ to Plano.

Every article I can find says truck factory only in Austin. No reference to corporate headquarters. If you can find anything, let us know!

Stupid enough to become one of the richest men in the world.

He is insanely lucky. Recently, he got in trouble for mentioning the stock was overvalued. The SEC fined him because his statements could harm stockholders. His fine was to buy a bunch of shares (around $300 a share) to benefit the Tesla company and shareholders. Well, the stock shot up and earned him an extra $20 to $30 million dollars. He gets fined by making close to $30 million dollars, how lucky is that? Of course he doesn't need it, being worth many dozens of billions of dollars, and gets richer every day.

You missed the part that these 5000 jobs are almost all to be local Texas hires.
