We 53 Senators. Why wouldn’t we confirm?

One word: RINOS

Ginsburg will die within the next 8 weeks. what they are doing to her is obscene. The lady is not well. It’s obvious.

Collins maybe, but why would Romney and other block it? They’re not up for re-election.

The author is an idiot. He should address the backfire to the democrats who voted to drop the filibuster when confirming federal judges.

People never remember. This whole no confirmations in a president uear is none other than THE BIDEN RULE. There right. In order try to protect the liberal court when he was the chair of the judiciary in the senate Biden said he would NOT consider a republican nominee in a year when there was an election when the sitting president would not be running. In other words when there was a split government and a term limited president

So. The Biden rule does not apply as trump is not Term limited. If there is a vacancy before the election it should be taken up. If there is a vacancy after the election and trump is a lame duck who cares. Jam it through. If he is re-elected then it’s his right. This is pretty simple and can be laid entirely at the feet of Biden. But republicans are so scared to play even soft ball I don’t expect hard ball. Just roll over and take it up the rear end.

Never-Trumpers who would argue that we should wait until after the election before selecting the next Justice.

Gee, think Mitt Romney will start complaining about his conscience?

Without a doubt. Add Murkowski to that. Grassley has said he wouldn't vote for a nominee in committee; he won't vote for them on the floor if enough others won't. Of the Senators in close races I don't see Collins or Bennett voting to confirm. That's four or five; there may be others as well.

Because at least four Republican senators won't vote to confirm this close to the election. Probably more.

Romney, Murkowski, Collins, Gardner, possibly Grassley are all solid 'no' votes this close to the election.

People on both sides of the aisle who are concerned about the future of American democracy should hope, then, that Ginsburg remains on the court until the next president is inaugurated in January. The alternative is likely to be a constitutional crisis whose results are unlikely to make anyone happy, as the Supreme Court becomes the grounds for an endless cycle of retaliation and counter-retaliation between the parties.

Oh puuuullease!!!!

It is the democrats who have made a mockery out of the Supreme Court and nominee hearings.

Rhetorical question, really, but can anyone name a single democrat appointed justice who got as unfair a treatment as Bork, Thomas and Kavanaugh?

Supreme Court nominations by Republicans have been a one-way world of disdain, lies and political ambitions by the Left for the past 50 years.

It’s not going to happen. Romney, Collins and Murkowski will refuse to confirm any SC nominee this close to an election. Other GOP senators might balk too. Re-elect Trump and hope he doesn’t depend on the Federalist Society for their recommendations anymore - so far they’ve been about as useful as the American Bar Association.

I predict that soon after Trump wins in November, that she will step down.

She is not going to step down voluntarily if there is a Republican president.

She might if she knows she can’t last another 4 years.

Once Trump wins, she has to hang in there for 4 years.

God will show her all the children’s faces she helped abort before she is thrown in the lake of fire for eternity!! God doesn’t play around when it’s the matter of innocent helpless babies!

“never underestimate the uselessness of the GOP”

I have been a Republican for almost 50 years and it took a long time to come to the conclusion that most of the GOP has no core values, just simply getting themselves re-elected so they can feed on the federal teat and get a nice juicy pension. The Dems want the same thing as well, but they do have some core values. ALL OF THEM are Socialist/Communist at the core, and anything that advances that agenda is perfectly fine.

Why wouldn’t we place a conservative judge on the Supreme Court any time we could? The Dems would place theirs under similar circumstances. And they would maintain party discipline. To me, this would be the ultimate test of loyalty. No matter how they would coerce one like Manchen, he would fall in line when they needed him. He has before, he will again. I think there are probably 8-10 GOP senators who have any conviction. And the RINO GOP knows we have no where else to go.

“We 53 Senators. Why wouldn’t we confirm?”

Romney, Collins, Murkowski hate Trump as much as the dimocrats and will not confirm. They’ll say it’s not fair because of what McConnell did to obama.

They will keep RBG alive until 2021, no matter what... but she will not last 2 more years...

RBG
Breyer

Thomas is still strong
Just the two I think.

The smart Latina may feel like she is useless in the minority and resign... that might be three.
