All these incidents involved carriers. In my view, there’s a pattern.

The pattern is that all three were in dockyard hands, either being overhauled or under construction. Crew is reduced, trash is all over the place, shipyard workers don't care. It's not surprising at all.

No one’s career is over.

Military contractors will continue to rake in billions no matter how unsafe their ships are...

Pentagon brass will keep feeding the crooks so they can ‘retire’ to luxury and cushy jobs with the same crooks that designed and built this abomination.(If there’s ever a vehicle that needs to be ‘fire proof’ it’s a carrier built for war)

Guess it’s hard to ween these lowlifes Pentagon types away from ripping off the American people... maybe instead of setting up our navy personal for death, they should run to the ME and give ‘speeches’ to Arabs...

I thought it was Patton said that. I’ll have mine pulled

Perhaps Flemming ‘borrowed’ it from Patton?

Hope someone on our side is checking the national origins of the shipyard workers, especially the welders. And whether the workers have family overseas subject to threats.

“Unless the culture has truly changed ... they will penalize the contractor and protect their own.”

Sounds like the electric utility business model.

They show up and get their overtime. I doubt much actual “work” gets done. The corruption in DOD contracting is epic.

I would assume... note that word... that the BHR being at dock was not fully manned by its assigned crew. That limits the damage control that could have been done had the ship been at sea. Instead you’re relying on land-based fire fighters and tugs that take time to be assembled and to get onboard. Fire could have been way out of control by then.

I don’t know who would be legally responsible for the ship while in maintenance. Probably the superintendent of the shipyard, but who really knows?

That’s what I thought.
Point being, the USN is really F’ing up.
As long as they’re diverse, everything is ok.

“Navy Chief” in this context means the “Chief of Naval Operations”, the top uniformed officer in the Navy.

I am watching American Restoration right now.
They could knock out the dents and repaint and make it look good as new. Just $1.2 billion.

Who benefits?—The People’s Republic of China that’s who. Look into this. The contractors could have been compromised with Chinese or BLM believers—paid off to set fires? We are in a serious confrontation. Maybe the CIA had something to do with the burning of Russia’s trouble prone carrier and this is Putin’s payback? We need the full story—Now it sounds like a Tom Clancy Novel.

"That was nearly eighty years ago! What’s happened since then!!?"

As a confirmed civilian, I'll bite. The difference is the WW2 ships were fully manned and underway in a war. The BHR was at dock, with a skeleton crew, undergoing repairs with civilian contractors who were negligent with their work.

Did I win?
