I was stationed in West Germany in the early eighties. God knows I tried to support the German economy by drinking copious amounts of strong German beer, but to no avail.

well, it pretty much WAS a slap in the face, given that President Trump announced that one reason for the withdrawal was that Germany refuses to live up to their NATA obligation to spend a minimum of 2% of their GDP upon defense ...
besides, NO U.S. military is needed in Germany anyway since:
1. The Soviet Union no longer exists
2. The Germans partnered with Russia to receive Russian energy supplies ...
Excellent! Pull all of our troops out of Germany. They’re not our allies. They can pay for their own defense.
