As Bye-done stumbles relentlessly to the left, he’s seeking to balance the ticket by picking someone even farther to the left.

What could possibly go wrong?

Sen. Kamala Harris is regarded by many Democrats as having been too prosecutorial

However, her not being eligible isn't a problem for the CommiecRATs.

People wanted to vote for Palin because she was attractive. If you pulled the string on her back, she would say “conservative things.”

Let’s not kid ourselves: the right has its share of shallow, low information voters—just like the left.

>> Both sides pander to their base.

Was Pence a pander? Or was he a personality ticket balancer? Trump knew he needed someone pretty boring as his number two.

Michael Barone, dinosaur, still talking statistics and protocols. He was a great one on Trump in 2016, right?

He just thought it was all in such bad taste, this bounder Trump and all.

Apparently the great Michael Barone’s office window faces away from the smoke, looting, wreckage, murders and dead cops on the ground.

Michael Moron is moron like it.

Unless he picks an insurance policy; much like he was. In that case, maybe he picks someone worse than him. Somebody like Maxine Waters.

How much damage has his latest gaffe caused? Plenty. How will the black community view any black VP pick now.

I hate to generalize, but I don't think the "black community" as a whole drills down deep enough to understand what Biden said, let alone take offense at it. If he panders and picks a black running mate they will jump for joy.

Was Pence a pander?

Yes. A big part of the conservative base of the Republican party is white evangelicals. The Pence selection checked off both.

I don’t remember who else was on Trump’s short list.

I don’t remember who else was on Trump’s short list.

Chris Christie and Newt Gingrich were both on the short list with Pence. Mary Fallin, Joni Ernst, Tom Cotton, and Richard Burr had been mentioned a few times. Even Bob Corker and John Kasich had been mentioned early on.

So far only one vice presidential nominee on a losing ticket has later been elected President: Franklin D. Roosevelt, who was James M. Cox's running mate in 1920 when they were beaten by Harding & Coolidge. But being on the ticket does mean greater visibility--Ed Muskie was on the losing ticket in 1968 and for a while looked like the likely nominee in 1972. Whoever is offered the VP slot this year will probably accept it eagerly thinking that this puts her in a better position for 2024.

Not too many politicians turn down a chance to be the VP nominee. Edward Kennedy was one in 1972.
