Most of the USAF UH-1N’s were bought in the mid to late 70s to ferry Missile combat crews and maintainers to the thousands of Minuteman II, Atlas, and Peacekeeper missiles sites. Of course, there are a lot few of them, as both Atlas and Peacekeepers are gone.

Last night was pretty clear, they buzz by my place on occasion. Manassass can be rural about 12 miles as the crow fly’s from me. Usually they fly pretty low and slow. I always wave. Prayers up.

These UH-1’s are marked totally different than the Marine One fleet.
And I can tell you that they are “on the deck” and flying as fast as the helicopter can fly. Last time I was in D.C. I was standing on the river side of the Lincoln Memorial, and was just about looking down at Marine One, and the Airforce VIP helicopter as they flew along the Potomac.
