How does this matter? Other places are getting more ice.

So, you mean plants and animals might start growing there again?

No, 52nd. Alberta brings more to the table. She should be the 51st.

The ice use to be almost a mile thick over the land which is now New York City.

And the approach to the Hudson Canyon, well offshore, was beachfront property.

Natural function given the Earth has always had ‘climate change,’ some normal progressions, others rapid and catastrophic due to outside the Earth influences or happenings (Comet/asteroid impacts or air detonations, solar flares, etc.).

There’s a reason it is/was named Greenland instead of Iceland.

"If all this ice has melted, why isn’t New Orleans under water already? How about San Fran, Los Angeles, etc?"

Per the NOAA website sea level has been falling the past couple of years the opposite of what one would expect if the Greenland ice cap was melting. There are only two sources of ice that could significantly raise sea level, Greenland and Antarctica and both continue to gain ice.

I always wondered why they didn’t call it Whiteland.

There are more active volcanos under the surface of the ocean than above it. From what I understand there are active one(s) underwater in the vicinity of Greenland. What influence does that have on the shrinking glacier? Has it been factored in with all their predictions?

I recently flew Amsterdam to Seattle, going right over Greenland for about an hour. It’s got a lot of ice and snow.

I am however worried about the penguins there...

I've read estimates of 2 to 4 million underwater active volcanoes. There's been a slight increase in temperature and melt on the Antarctica peninsula which is only about 5% of the area of Antarctica due to underwater vulcanism. However the rest of the continent continues to accumulate around 200 cubic miles of ice every year and it's temperature has been falling continuously the late 1950s.

No offense, but why would we want the ice sheet to return?

So what? Maybe then the people there can grow something instead of eating snow-cones all the time.
