Black death racist
I could have sworn we got the plague vaccine...among others... before going overseas for Uncle Sam in the 60’s.
Back in the day when I went hiking and camping I can remember signs in National Parks warning of the PLAGUE! The small mammals that live in the forest have fleas (maybe we should get flea collars for all of them). The point of the signs were to warn you that those cute little critters could be carriers of the plague and you should keep your distance from them (social distancing before it became political)
I know guy who has been struck twice by lightning and survived.
To this day, he freaks out every thunderstorm.
It depends on how close Trump is to winning an election...
Yeah, that would definitely do it. :^) The old recordholder was I think a park ranger out west (high altitude) who got hit nine times over a space of some years. He said that after the fourth time he thought some higher power (a higher power that needed more range time) was trying to get rid of him. I think he eventually killed himself.
Most of the people hit by lightning survive, if memory serves. In the US, a good many are golfers. The closest I've come is a couple hundred feet, the strike was on a tree in the yard, while I was sitting where I am right now. Late night / early morning, *flash*BANG* simultaneously. Changed my shorts and resumed surfing. :^)
/bingo
[snip] Only about 10% of people who are struck by lightning are killed, leaving 90% with various degrees of disability. [/snip]
Another reason I don’t play golf.
You’re not.
He hasn’t been out since all this stupidity began so I took him with me last night.
When he saw the girl who was his first “correct diagnosis” he went crazy, trying to check her again.
She was laughing and telling him “No way, not this time” but he kept sniffing and looking at her intensely.
I’ll give it a month...
:D
IIRC, it was the hantavirus which attacks the lungs. The fatility rate is close to 40% and there is no cure, unlike the plague which can be treated with antibiotics. In Yosemite the virus was spread by mice urine and feces droppings in the tent cabins. For a good read, see the link below.

In the early 1990’s is was first called the Navajo flu after being first found on the reservation in Arizona and New Mexico. There was no identification initially and there is still no cure, and many infected persons died quickly after flu symptoms, especially breathing problems, developed.
