On top of that, Bars & Restaurants that want to go to 50% occupancy have to self-certify their COVID-safety plans and then submit to further restrictions on alcohol sales and limit their hours of operation to 10PM.
These are to go in effect by 9/21. I’m thinking that the restaurant owners who are left are going to be scorching the ears of their Democrat state reps and maybe — just maybe — there will be the votes to pull the emergency decree with a veto-proof majority.
“67.5% of Pennsylvania COVID deaths have occurred in nursing homes.”
I think the percentage may be even higher. Personal anecdote. My 81 yo mother with dementia passed from COVID at the end of April. Her assisted living community packed her off to one of the local hospitals where she was tested, diagnosed with COVID-19 and died within about 12 hours.
I called the administrator to pass along the word and he told me a second female resident — my Mother’s ‘nextdoor neighbor’ also passed from COVID. That’s 2 COVID deaths that I know of for sure from that facility. BUT that facility reported ZERO COVID deaths to the State of Pennsylvania as of July. The only way they could get away with this is if they are shipping symptomatic patients out to the hospital to die. So if enough assisted living communities are playing this game the COVID reported death-toll for nursing facilities should be much higher.
