“The fires are fully on Dem/Progressive policies. He is blaming everyone but his own party.”

Absolutely! Newsom is one of the best at dodging responsibility more so than any other of his Democrat cohorts. It’s so natural for them to lie.

Why do you focus on the main thing you CAN control.....
cutting dead trees and cut the underbrush that Al Gore
banned. Idiots.

My sisters brother in law was the chief ranger that managed Yosemite park. This is the nearly the only part of the Sierra National Forest that uses normal fire and controlled burns to clear the under growth and let natural fires burn under controlled circumstance so they never become large fires. The Indians used to light fires to burn the undergrowth before we ever showed up. They also have begun to clear areas of overgrowth with select logging, but not enough. Canada does this on a larger scale. States like Wyoming do this as well after they nearly let Yellowstone burn to the ground a decade ago.

“The Sierra has always had cycles of wet and drought.” I remember the Sierras when you could still come out in the morning and see them to include Mt. Whitney.

And lightening strike fires that thinned out the forests yearly to cut back that overgrowth you mentioned were just nature taking care of itself. The Yuroks that were there first (14th century) to the Yahi Tribe were killed in the California genocide in the 19th century know about the fires better than the politicians now.

Of the indian tribes of today in California, 108 registered tribes and almost 100 reservations, I wish they would step forward and stand up to this mismanagement of the land in California. They had it right.

Yeah, our idiot Dem governor in WA state also blamed the wildfires on "global warming". Jay Inslee, ran for POTUS on the same platform and got nowhere.

I have lived in the state of Washington for nearly 40 years. Occasionally we have a very bad wildfire season. It doesn't happen every year; but, it is not that unusual either. This year, the haze just hanging out over the area is a bit much, but it will move out, around Monday they are saying.

Another Freeper on a different thread stated that it is not global warming but poor forest management. That is exactly right.

I guess the entire country will start to experience power outages as well due to the weather, not lack of power generation...Gak

The smoke Gavin Newsom takes in isn’t from burning trees or brush.

I think a proper question would be, “Where do these morons come from?”

The socialists must have a breeding farm somewhere.

This guy is oblivious to a recall petition that is circulating in the State. Has to be one of the dumbest out of touch Governors California has ever had. Hope he gets Grey Davis’d.

I thought the fires were the result of environmental idiotism.

“Get out there and RAKE YOUR FOREST Gavin”

It’s on the government and ultimately citizens for failing to do what you say.

If California thinks global warming is turning the forests into tender boxes, fine, but was the plan to do nothing, and eventually mankind would eliminate global warming, and then the forests would get lots of rain, and then problem solved?

Here’s some good news, Gavin (I’ve said this before). The more forests are burned, the less is left to burn.

Lewis and Clarke. They observed the western sky on fire in the early part of the 19th century. The coastal west has always experienced huge fires and droughts. I guess the paleo Indians were troubled by Global Warming. Perhaps it is what killed the dinosaurs and we should blame ourselves for not eliminating combustion engines and oil production.

The natives in both Americas did that as a regular thing before the advent of the Europeans. They burned the forests everywhere periodically to clear out underbrush and make the woodland environment friendly to big game animals. Bison were woodland animals then.

Periodic fires do not get hot enough to kill the trees but if you wait ten years for lightning to do the job then the underbrush and dead wood is so dense that the flames are super hot and the trees are all burned up. Early settlers in the 16oos and explorers before that remarked on the New England forests being so clear that "you could march an army through the forest."

At least one such fellow has been arrested in, I believe, Washington State. He was identified from the videos he posted of his work.
