The fires were a result of lightning strikes, arson, and oddly a result of no maintenance of the power lines by PPG. PPG knows how to maintain powerlines and clear brush etc. on the right of way. PPG was forced to expend much of their revenue on renewable energy and not maintaing their infrastructure. Thus today we have rolling blackouts and fires.
Texas is a hell of lot hotter than California (Mohave desert excepted). We drill, we frack, we produce much electricity due to this and export it. Oddly we also have much solar and wind energy production and thus is just due to insane subsidies for such. If the wind did not blow and the sun did not shine, we have ample electricity in Texas from mostly natural gas.
In the past we did have some lignite mines which is a very low grade coal and very dirty. It produced much energy for many years. Due to fracking and abundant cheap and clean natural gas these are now closed. Fracking is good for the environment.

Consider this: Over the past six months -- half a year! -- Newsom has seriously harmed the 40,000,000 American citizens who live in California and there is still no end in sight. In other words, Gavin Newsom, who was nothing more than a mediocre elected politician before March of this year when he assumed self-anointed, unchallengeable vast new powers for a "good reason" (which he alone determined to be a sufficiently "good reason"), at the inhumane cost of 20,000,000 "human years" of life (40 million times 1/2 year). And because no one has questioned his numerous unConstitutional mandates -- not the California legislature nor the state's judicial system, much less the federal government which is duty-bound to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution (recall that the Roberts USSC even provided an imprimatur to Newsom's suspension of at least two provisions of the First Amendment) -- Newsom has effectively become omnipotent ... that is, the very definition of a tyrant.
It is increasingly clear that all of this deliberately inflicted pain and suffering throughout these many months is no longer a matter of "protecting public health"; rather, it is being carried out for two reasons ... political reasons. The primary purpose all along is to attempt to discourage, frighten and punish Americans from re-electing President Trump. The secondary purpose, on a more personal level for Newsom, is to establish himself as a viable candidate, operating under orders of and in the good graces of the leadership of the America/American-hating Democrat/Communist Party for a national run in 2024.
Looks to me that California Gov. Gavin Newsom is calling in airstrikes on his position.
