Is it typical for the moderator to provide a list of topics for the debate? If not this seems to be designed to favor Biden by limiting the amount of prep he would have to do.
Yes. There have always been “domestic”, “economy”, “foreign”, Etc. topics for debates.
Questions like this make me wonder if people commenting have ever seen a Presidential debate? Or did you not pay attention?

Okay, so we know what Wallace is going to Debate Trump about, so what will Joementia be doing in the meantime?
Everybody expects POTUS to be the attack dog in these debates. but all he has to do is stay focused, be congenial and NOT attack him like he does at the rallies!.
IOW, let Sloe Joe be the bad cop! Sloe Joe will screw up without POTUS having to force any issues.
And POTUS is quite capable of responding in a polite, reasoned manner that is sure to put Sloe Joe off his game.
Of course, if Sloe Joe elects to slug it out, toe to toe, POTUS will clean his clock!
