The purest data is Excess Deaths. This is the number of deaths by age group in excess to normal years.
Many more elderly are dying this year. There were colds last year and the year before and the year before. And flu last year and the year before and the year before. Those are around this year PLUS there is the corona virus. That’s why elderly death count this year is above previous years. By what is headed towards 15% for the year.
15% more 65+ deaths will occur this year than typical years (last 5 averaged). That’s not horrible, unless you’re over 65. If you are, your life expectancy stats are going to be less than you were retirement planning hoping for.
Should be a simple yes or no.
