I think it’s all real. The set up would have been the laptop going directly to the FBI first (or some politician), not a one off computer place that had it for months before anyone got involved.

I thought the shop owner called the FBI and gave them the laptop. The shop owner copied everything on the laptop prior to handing it over.
From what I read early, the FBI didn’t just tell him to stay quiet. The words were a strongly implied threat. So it’s good that he talking a lot — to protect himself.
I’m not so sure you could call J. Edgar honorable. But he did run a tight ship.
This was a computer repair store. The first thing most of them should do is make a copy of the hard drive if possible. This way if the drive fails or the repair tech makes a mistake the hard drive can be restored from the backup. Also, if they can’t fix the computer they can at least offer the recovered data to the owner. The store owner likely didn’t need to make any more copies of the hard drive he already had one form day one.
The media claims this is to bizarre to be truth. Pretty much the only argument I hear.
However there is another, simpler explanation - the Bidens are not too smart!
