But flu deaths must be way down...
Indoor airborne virii don't care, they'll get around the masks and into the nose if there are enough of them.
Is that data based on testing positive or the entire population?
Im in Wisconsin...this is pure bullshit.
Appreciate the info. You’d know best living there, but I’ve seen an absolute ton of stories in the media about people basically NOT following social distancing OR masks in WI. Not sure why the difference, but story after story of people packing bars (without masks, of course), parties (without masks), etc.
I’d have to see if I saved any of them, but right after the WI Supreme Court came down with their decision it seems like a lot of people basically said..”cool! Virus is OVER - let’s party!”..at least based on media coverage of how people were responding to it..
You can buy a lot of masks that DO protect against the COVID virus. I have plenty that are FDA certified to do so.
That said, the MAIN REASON behind masks is to reduce the amount of virus particles an infected person puts into the environment - which in turn infects other people.
That said, “most” decent masks (not just a single layer of cloth, but something with a non-woven or similar filter) do provide at least 65% protection..that said, it’s not the main reason that countries that have embraced masks (and social distancing) like Taiwan and Hong Kong have the virus under control - whereas we certainly don’t.

The longer you drag it out, the more people will be exposed. Sweden study. The state of ga.. etc.
This was designed to be highyly contagious, ever changing because it is an rna virus.
A vax is just wasted dollars because its an rna virus. Remember, these are the same, um scientists who publish a scientific article stating the hymalayas would melt by 2020.
This is endemic, not pandemic. By design.
So lets just help each other through it.
I realize there are people who said they “always” wear a mask while around others, but I’ve yet to see many instances of this actually happening - ESPECIALLY outdoors. So, the people who got COVID and responded they “always or most of the time” wear a mask is hard to prove at best and very likely pretty suspect.
On the other hand, there are a lot of countries (Taiwan, Hong Kong just to name a couple) that have a much different culture than us and embraced the few things they could do (masks, social distancing) to reduce the spread. Taiwan, I believe, reported something north of 90% of people doing both - indoors AND out. They’re obviously right on the doorstep of China and have a much higher population density than us, with a lot more reliance on mass transit - so “should” have gotten totally crushed by the virus. Nope! Their deaths per million people, to-date 0.3. (Hong Kong is 14/M). OUR deaths per million to date? Over 685. Yet, we have a much lower population density, less reliance on mass transit, and obviously aren’t right on the doorstep of China.
Data at: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/
That result is very similar across every country that’s embraced doing the few simple things they can do to battle the virus. We seem to have either decided we a) don’t believe the virus is a big deal or b) have given up doing anything beyond waiting for a vaccine. That’s very likely why we are at where we’re at in terms of cases and deaths.
No mask can protect you if your eyes are exposed cause a virus will go in there.
Masks are just an effort to make people THINK they have protection when they do not!
The population of Wisconsin is at least 5.5 million. So the percentage is 0.00026 of the entire population in Wisconsin.
Slowing the spread accomplishes what, exactly?
Slowing the spread means less cases and deaths, which in turn means a more functioning and open economy. It also buys us more time to get to the point there’s a vaccine or multiple vaccines available without an unnecessary increase in cases (many of which result in ongoing, long-term health implications) and deaths.
We’re not likely to get our economy back until this thing is under control.
Look at estimated GDP growth this year for the US vs a country that did get it under control (Taiwan). Their deaths per million: 0.3. Our deaths per million: 686. Taiwan GDP is expected to grow this year. We all know what the US GDP is expected to do, all due to the impact of COVID.
Seems to me pretty obvious that we should have gotten this under control if we wanted to protect our economy..since we didn’t, the best thing we can do IMHO is to try to change that going forward.
Lol, and you attribute the difference with Taiwan being due to wearing masks? Thats absurd.
You are still spewing this garbage?
The economy should never have been shut down in the first place, let alone shut down again.
And what do you attribute the Taiwan difference to?
Here’s a article published at the NIH (I’ve seen many others) that concludes Taiwan got control of the virus with mask usage and isolating people who contracted the virus:
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7270822/
I’ve seen multiple similar articles about other countries (eg: Hong Kong) that draw the same conclusions.
I have no fucking idea, and neither do you.
