“defense of civil unions if it was a lesser evil to stop same sex marriage”
There is no difference between the two.
hmmmm ... maybe
Is it just me, or is it the fact that Francis’ writings are so unclear that people can take it any way they want?
How many times does his handlers have to explain to people saying in effect “What he said and what he meant, isn’t what you think he said or meant”?
This is about ratifying actions which the church expressly condemns.
Francis is speaking about a secular action when he should be preaching from the roof tops about sin and its consequences.
There is no difference between the two.
One's definitely gay and the other is primarily not, so I think you are in error.
Probably, but civil unions led to homosexual marriage. I liken it to “abortion will never be used as birth control and only to save the mother’s life”. We see how that turned out.
There was a difference between homo civil unions and Homo marriage -at least until Pope Francis (alleged/reported/?) statement. Civil unions did not carry the endorsement of the church. To some, that was a significant distinction.
Actually, he said this last year in an interview with a Mexican journalist for a Mexican television show. These words didnt appear in the final broadcast interview, either because the Vatican took it out or the Mexican editors took it out.
The current appearance of these words occurs in an Italian movie, Francesco, issued by Bergoglio about Bergoglio.
So he meant it to happen. That arrogant power-crazed fat old nobody.
Here come the papal apologists.
Pope is a Dope,
He sure has a habit of choosing to be interviewed by journalists who are outright hostile to the Church. You would think by now he would realize that has never gone well.
It so disgusting that this fake news is everywhere- it was on page one of the Wall Street Journal as the lead feature story.
Entry number 92,468 of “What Francis really meant to say was...”, volume 249.”Clean up in Vatican, aisle 6”.
later
There is no difference between the two.
They are both abominations, but the first is an arrangement to facilitate a crime and capital sin (sodomy), while the other is also a literal impossibility--like dividing by zero.
Marriage is a sacrament, a human act in which God Himself takes part, and it occurs between a man and a woman, period. No Catholic, even Francis, would say otherwise.
Doing fan-dances with secularist, anti-Catholic filmmakers on this subject is a bad idea with no legitimate upside that I can see. But I didn't vote for the man.
I read this as: Pope says, Sodomy is swell!
This sounds like Democrat party triangulating - say all sides, and they will hear the version they want to believe.
Handlersplaining.
