Between the COVID lock downs and the Antifa destruction the DemonKKKrats have done a hell of a job undoing the Trump economy. Think what that 19 trillion dollars would have done for the economy. And, with that kind of money floating around, think what could have been done to whack that virus.

This is not about the control of the virus. It is about creating a economic catastrophe which will require massive taxation to fix. We don’t call them Taxocrats for nothing.

BTW, agreed. As you and I were discussing some threads back, what we are being forced into is a sort of farce mitigation that just PO's the people who see through it, and encourages poor mitigation by many of those who don't. Not to be overly repetitive (but I will be!): Where are proper masks? Where is education on proper mask etiquette, without which even effective masks (no valve certified N95's) are not very effective? Instead we get overrun by these pap PSA's urging us to wear masks to be kind to our neighbors -- never mind the details... and on and on...

Do you think the CDH will get the message the American citizens living in Idaho are sending them? ... or are they like every other unelected bureaucrat who loves the celebrity and the power over people they don't normally possess ... sort of a hand-me-down from the faux-king governor?

Your questions about masks, I also, have made comments about. We should be light years ahead on mask technology. Instead, we are no better than where we were during the 1917 pandemic. As for the shortages, I have seen the rollers that are 35 feet wide that hold rolls of material five feet in diameter. They can whip that material through the cut-out rollers at 35 feet per second. Nobody can tell me they can’t make enough of those damn masks!

Could we make those electret charged very fine polyester fibers (used in N95 masks) in large qty’s back in 1917? (I don’t know - just curious.)

When it comes to making more comfortable, durable, and just generally more “user friendly” N95 masks, everybody seems to have gone brain dead for over 40 years.

In any event, manufacturing those fibers was cited as the bottleneck back in March. MARCH!!! I mean, the extrusion process to get the fibers “right” is a bit tricky, and there aren’t many companies capable of making the machines, it was said. But, c’mon! This is not a new process (N95’s were first approved back in 1972!), and this is the USA, the premier large scale high tech manufacturing country in the world. Plus, it’s not like the Germans, the French, the Japanese, and so on, could not crank out quality N95 type masks by the many hundreds of millions too.

Sorry for the “language”, but a very large “WTF” is in order. Pols apparently don’t “get” that while the average citizen may not know quite this much “detail”, a great many do sense that something is VERY wrong here, and with all the hyperventilating about the crisis, that cranks distrust up to “pegged meter” level.

BTW, being in an ornery mood at the moment, I thought I’d have a little math fun with the info. you stated. I’ll estimate the “blank” piece of material for a N95 is 1 sq. foot. (I think that’s pretty generous / wasteful, but, what the heck.) I’ll further assume material to actually run those cut out rollers @ 35 fps is usually available (otherwise why have that kind of capacity?) 80 hours a week (two shifts, 5 days a week - very conservative, IMO), but between setup (loading rolls and what not), cutting occurs only 40 hours a week. (Again this is very conservative from my perspective of having a fair bit of manufacturing production engineering experience.)

35 ft. wide x 35 fps gives us 1225 mask cut-outs per second, which is 4,410,000 mask cut-outs per hour, or 176,400,000 mask cut-outs per week, per cut-out roller.

From a usage standpoint, I came up with 18 million health care workers in the USA who might need N95 masks at a rate of 5 a day, allowing for at least some sterilization and re-use going on. That works out to 450 million masks per week.

(Yeah, I have some rather generous assumptions on this side of it.)

3 cut-out rollers should more than supply our health care workers. (528 million cut-outs per week) Plus, a lot of workers are not even using N95’s. My dentist, for example, orders KN95’s in bulk from China, for their entire staff. As you, I highly question their quality & effectiveness, but, there are a lot of health care workers using them.

Still, I’ll roll with the 450 million N95’s per week needed for our health care workers, and yet we have many KN95’s being substituted due to shortages, and still plenty of reports of shortages of actual N95’s.

How is it even possible that we apparently do not have even 3 of those cut-out rollers going, at this time? Talk about some “French” in the air!

Effective masks for the general population are a bigger target. To get the general population to accept them, I’ll make the assumption that more comfortable masks use 50% more material. Maybe call them “N95+” masks. Round ‘em off to 120 million mask cutouts per cut-out roller per week. On the usage side, I’ll also VERY generously estimate 300 million users, of 4 masks a day, 5 days a week, even given significant sterilization & re-use. (Yes, this is playing even “faster and looser” with the numbers, but, again, this is just a rough guess.) This gives us a demand for 6 BILLION N95+ masks a week. That’s 50 of those cutout rollers popping out 120 million cutouts a week. Fudge for down time and add the masks for health care pros, ok, call it 60 of those rollers. All in one location would be a pretty impressive operation.

But, still, have you (any reader) ever seen one of the bigger cold forged steel parts plants in China? Which are fairly highly automated, BTW. THAT’s impressive. (Crocodile Dundee “THIS is a knife” moment.)

Most people would not go through my above “exercise”, but, maybe they don’t need to. Many simply sense what is wrong, IMO, even if they can’t articulate it in numbers. They watch our officials try to USE the crisis rather than fix it, have insulting PSA’s and announcements spit at us, and those who would own us wonder why our BS meters stay pegged!

I thought that Boise had been Calinifornicated....

Give it time. It's still a work in progress.

It’s all about control, isn’t it?

I consider it a massive exercise in behavior modification. If we let this deterioration of rights stand the next time will require suspension of more or all rights in the name of public health. Testing...One...Two...Three. Is this thing on?

The quote “It’s not under control” is testament to their growing awareness that this could turn into armed insurrection putting them at risk of bodily harm.

In Idaho the governor is a Republican and he’s denounced tonight’s protest.

It does not matter.

What the politicians have taught us is that they will only pay attention to credible threats of bodily harm or death.

They dictate policies that ruin the lives of ordinary citizens while exempting themselves from harm. They ignore petitions, and "peaceful protests". They cannot be removed by voting.

Escalation of force is inevitable under such conditions. The rulers will run out of enforcers before they run out of hostile citizens.

I cannot believe how many people are wearing their masks full time now, even outdoors.

I put mine on when I go into a store that requires it, and as soon as I set foot out the door, I take it off. Virtually everyone else just walks around with them on.

Who knows, maybe it’s because it doubles as a scarf in the cold weather and actually keeps your face warm if it’s not too damp from being breathed in (yuck).

Time to break out some winter scarfs and wear those instead.

But she’s got no problem with ANTIFA and BLM doing the same thing and much worse to folks on the Right.

Well said. I am thinking of sending your post to my state U.S.congresswoman. If she does not respond to the citizen’s need for a quality mask that works (no leakage) I will send her a baseball bat. With that she can knock some sense into her peanut brain.

I remember the 1984 Wendy’s hamburger commercial where the old lady asked, “Where’s the beef?” Today I ask, Where’s the mask?” They are throwing the American people to the dogs with those crappy masks that fog my glasses with COVID laden droplets.

It’s all about control, isn’t it?

Government officials are no longer our representatives.

They are control freaks, who think they are our overlords.
