Some of the “stacked” bodies in morgues & funeral homes may be of those who died months ago. If the family wants to be able to hold a “real” funeral, they may be holding back on the process.
A lot of older folks do not want to be cremated; they want the casket and all the bells and whistles, perhaps the families in these cases are trying to honor those final wishes and waiting until it is allowed.
We decided to have my M-i-L cremated and interred*, but there were only 5 people allowed at the service (no clergy, no real closure for the rest of the family).
*(she did not die of Covid, but was instead “failure to thrive” - likely because she was depressed about being alone and locked-down in her care facility)

100,000 patients/50 states = 2,000 patients per state. I’d guess there are on average 30 major hospitals per state. So 2,000/30 = approx 67 patients/hospital. So should I panic?

At my facility it’s both. We’ve had to open up 2 surge ICUs. Normally, ratio is 1-1 or 2-1. Lately it’s been 3 or 4 to 1. Which is bad in itself, but these people are very sick, crazy vent settings and multiple drips.
Across the system there’s at least 400 staff out due to either having covid or waiting out test results. I was out myself the other day due to test pending.
How are they being treated?
