“The Ojibwa council demanded and was awarded 81 of the 200 wolf quota. The Ojibwa council refused to issue any tags to tribal members.”
Not sure I get this, unless they were selling the tags.
That would be my guess. Rich white hunters would pay big bucks for a hunt like that.
Why did the Ojibwa council demand tags and then not pass them out? Were they trying to stop the harvest? Next year, don’t give them any...
They oughta throw dogface Komo to the wolves.
They were attempting to stick it to "the man". They claimed they did not want any wolves to be harvested, so they demanded those permits, then did not allow any tribal members to have a permit.
that is one big dog
An acquaintance owns a wolf-dog cross, 75/25 IIRC, and the size difference is breathtaking when compared to even large dogs like a German Shepherd or Rottweiler.
Not sure if it was to stop the harvesting or to sell hunts. Depending on where you’re at wolf hunts can go for 5,000 dollars.
Interesting. When you look at the past of early humans into North America they killed every predator they could. for their own personal safety and limit the competition for food.
it’s like an elk compared to a deer. They look the same until you compare their size

The Tribes are into making as much money as possible to support the ruling Families in the lifestyle they’ve become accustomed to ... members are just useful for generating sob stories that result in more money for the Families. Most are as corrupt as anything in the Deep State.

That’s a misdirection and not true.
I would not pay to participate in a wolf hunt. I hunt for food, not sport, and I don’t eat predators other than fish.
However, if wolves endangered a family member, a neighbor, or livestock, I have a shovel, and I know how to keep quiet.
No misdirection and it’s absolutely true. Not only did they take out predators when they could they also took out other tribes as well. This has been the nature of humans since we first walked this earth. Hell the Comanche’s damn near wiped out every tribe in the Great Plains only ones to survive had to escape. To act like they are some kind of stewards of wildlife is the real deceit and misdirection. There’s a reason they were called hunter gather’s. They would move into an area and deplete it of it’s resources and then move to another. It was these actions that had tribes warring with each other long before the europeans ever set foot on this land.
Then I guess you don’t know much about NA prehistory. They absolutely did not kill everything that was competition. They did conserve, but not to the idealized extent enviro-wackos claim - they were not stupid. You’ve probably never worked or lived on a farm, logged, or commercially fished. You can only take so much without destroying the resource - they knew that.
Most tribes in NA were not hunter gatherers, and were either opportunists like the PacNW tribes or settled and even civilized like the East coast tribes.
Waring was mainly for slaves, other resources were bonuses.
“it’s like an elk compared to a deer.”
An apt analogy, IMO.
I do not understand this wolf hunt. Was it done to thin out the wolves because of overpopulation? Also, why do hunters want to hunt them? Do they keep the wolfskin?
..or not report!😎
Let the wolves roam free and you can kiss hunting goodbye. Our ancestors killed wolves for a reason.
