There is a subset of mass murderer that targets prositutes. Jack the Ripper the most famous but there are many instances of this particular pathology. This guy’s politics are not the issue. The fact that they were Asian may be less important than the fact that they were in a known location at a known time and vulnerable. Bottom line is that this killer is deranged, cruel and probably had put people on prior notice that he was capable of such an act.
In Atlanta, there’s a lot of places with dozens of Asians that doesn’t require driving around town. If he wanted to target Asians, he went about it the hard way.

There was a similar case of a young man in the Santa Barbara Ca. area. His Dad was a well known (in the industry) movie producer from England. Upper class family. He ended up driving around a college campus, shooting the girls who had turned him down.
I think during a police pursuit, he ‘took himself out’.
