I did a job in Spring Valley years ago. Rough area. Some crack-head tried to take on one of the crew. The “crack” head ended up living up to his name.

This is horrible as many people died very unpleasant deaths and those injured are suffering horribly, and more deaths are likely.

Strangely enough, to this day scientists think that the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic may have been introduced to the US through an Army base in Kansas and a temporary one in Rockland County.
A) Will Gov. Coomo have the gall to go to the site and view the destruction?
2) Will he be able to summon the will power to restrain his emotions and not dance a jig on the ashes?
I grew up in Rockland. The intersection of MLK and Harriet Tubman Blvd in the Hill section of Spring Valley is one of the most dangerous ‘hoods in the Hudson Valley.
I’ve been in assisted living facilities for fire drills and unplanned evacuations.
Even in the best circumstances, it’s damn difficult.
The problems are often made exponentially worse by a lack of staff (minimums don’t cut it in these circumstances), poorly trained staff, and/or management that can’t be bothered to ensure it gets done right.
A lack of money is also a huge problem. A lot of these places are non-profits and don’t have money to spend on planning for worst case scenarios that hopefully will never occur.
And don’t get me started on what minimum wage hikes have done to harm the quality of nursing home care.
Recent update reports a firefighter is missing. He was apparently trying to evacuate residents on the 3rd floor when the building collapsed.
Seems like there’s a Demolishcrat all out war on elderly nursing home residents lately. And they accuse Republicans of wanting to throw granny over the cliff.

My uncle ( dead now 30 years ) ran a nursing home in spring valley i think? Baptist minister in Schenectady for years.
