This is horrific....missing firefighter....unaccounted for patients.
Just heartbreaking.
Did you read where good samaritans, in the area, ran in helping to bring patients out?
Prayers.
You beat me to it.
Rockland County, which is the New York County sitting just above the northern border of New Jersey and it is on the west side of the Hudson River. It is as unlike New York City as anyplace can be.
I am not sure how many Rockland County residents commute to New York City (or did before the bug hit), but records show private and public employers in the county employ at least one third of the population (100+ thousand in pop of 300+ thousand). Given children and retirees among the population, that one third could be a very high % of the adults who are working.
I made all these comments just to distinguish Rockland County - where Spring Valley is located - from New York City.
In corrupt New York, it makes you wonder if nursing home inspectors were paid to look the other way at safety violations in this facility.
Just what I was thinking! Any firebugs on COO-MO’s payroll? Will brother Fredo cover this on his show tonight? Asking for a friend.
Well, that is New Amsterdam
Why they changed it, I can't say.
Need to see if the owner was a Cuomo donor and if there were previous site inspection violations that weren’t followed up on.
The Democrats spent the summer trying to earase the historic statues in America but now realize the senior living history telling is the biggest threat to them.
A lot of people from Rockland County, and even the South-Eastern parts of Orange County commuted to NYC. The Tappan Zee bridge was just a few miles away down the Interstate that runs through Spring Valley. But yes, it is very different from NYC.
“A lot of people from Rockland County, and even the South-Eastern parts of Orange County commuted to NYC. The Tappan Zee bridge was just a few miles away down the Interstate that runs through Spring Valley. But yes, it is very different from NYC.”
I agree with that statement in general, but I looked up the data on Rockkland county and with 1/3 of the population employed in Rockland County, and considering dropping retirees and children from the total population, it would seem that commuters to NYC were a minority in Rockland County, not anywhere near most workers.
And as far as Rockland and Orange county commuters, it may be that many could be going to Westchester County and not down to New York City. That is not to say that none go to NYC, just that likely not all who commute out of Rockland and Orange go to NYC.
Another data point I found was that the number of households in Rockland county is only about 100K. Looking back at the number of private and public sector employees in Rockland County employment, which is about 113K, it also confirms my suspicion that most Rockland County workers are not commuting out of Rockland County.
Yep.
Not getting rid of them Roma carriers fast enough.
No evidence, no worry, just old sick people.
“People just liked it better that way.”
(I don’t mean to belittle the tragedy of this story, but couldn’t resist your line from the old song - which dates us.)
“Even in the best circumstances, itβs damn difficult.”
I read an article about tsunami evacuation plans with some cities near the coast of Washington state being only 18 minutes away from its arrival.
The emergency planners (small towns) said that they have done drills. They will focus on the schools where most of the kids are pretty mobile. The nursing homes will receive little, if any, help.
