There are two groups of economists, American economists and the rest of the world economists. The USA has the stupid most myopic economists in the world. I call them Free Traitors™ and the rest of world is eating our lunch because of losers like you.
The reason why I want tariffs:
To balance the difference in labor costs between the USA and the 3rd world would not take much. Frankly, most manufacturing is not labor intensive. That's the point of mass production. Maybe 7% of retail prices goes to labor, and that's for domestic union labor.
You Free Traitors™ need to quit acting like you need to educate Patriots in economics. We understand economics WAY more than you realize.
Protectionist, (Patriots) understand that a tariff will increase prices. We get it. WE WANT THAT. It's a one time inflation due to higher labor costs in the USA. Again, we understand the economists. We are not stupid. But the payoff from higher import tariffs comes in lowered social costs and higher quality products. We are willing to pay more for a strong viable industrial base. I WANT TO PAY MORE.
I am not so greedy as to destroy the USA industrial base, cause social havoc, lower GDP growth, in order to buy a cheaper poor quality Coolie made consumer goods. IT'S NOT WORTH IT AT ANY PRICE.
A very simplistic, surface, view of things but I’m not surprised. I feel like I’m talking to a fence post, so no sense pursuing this further. Your mind’s made up and despite over 200 years of experience with tariffs, you’ve learned nothing.
Oh, as to the insult to American economists, America has 5 times as many Nobel Laureates in Economics as the next closest country. You owe them an apology, you ignorant clod.
And America is broke and heading to GD II under your esteemed guidance. All “American economists” can go to hell as far as I am concerned.
