Tyrrell is one of my favorite historian writers. However, "The fault of the war's outcome resides with the Democrats on Capitol Hill. They lost the war." is not completely accurate.

Technically true about being Dems, but the war was mainly lost due to LBJ and McNamara's micro-management. If they had stayed out of it and let the Generals do their thing, we could have won.

I will never forget that General Giap's (NVN commander) memoir stated that he was ready to stop after the failure of their Tet Offensive. However, because of our centralized war management, the growing hippie movement, and Cronkite who said we lost, he decided otherwise.

I still cry for the 58,000 souls who lost their lives and the more who deal with their injuries to this day. What a waste of our youth. I also cry for those whose lives and limbs were wasted in Iraq and Aftganiscrap.

I have become on isolationist regarding nation building and other freedom spreading adventures. America does not need to police the world. However, we need to stay engaged on the seas, less the bad guys rule the world. It's a difficult balance.

I disagree, but sadly, it’s all conjecture - he didn’t live long enough to prove either one of us right or wrong.

All we have is his rhetoric - which was admittedly top notch.

President John F. Kennedy entered the White House as a war hero, and he pursued the Cold War with courage and growing astuteness. He had plans for the domestic front but was not given the time to implement them. Suffice to say, he was a successful Cold Warrior.

Some of this successful Cold Warrior's successes are as follows

Today, he would be more Conservative than most Republicans.

JFK was a patriot.

The other ‘Rats (LBJ/Carter/Bent-one/Kenyan) including the wannabees (Spitball-Kerry/Cankles/Abrams-Dukakis) and including the controlled opposition (GHB, GWB, Myth) are all Deep State Cabal Treasonists.

He certainly was. A serial sexual predator.

From his father to his brothers and their kids that whole Kennedy Clan is/was a pack of degenerates.

Both had horrible civil rights records.

Moral equivocation isn't a game I like to play. The entire Democrat Party was and is the biggest threat to the civil rights, freedom and liberty of every American.

Another bunch of bs. If FDR had listened to Admiral Chester Nimitz the great majority of the fighting in the Pacific could have been avoided.

Nimitz wanted to bring the war right to Japan itself and forget the ‘’island hopping’’’ bs. “We’ll go back for them’’ he said, meaning to let those Japanese garrison’s wither on the vine.

It was MacArthur, that supreme martinet who convinced FDR to go through the long and bloody island slog.

Yes, all Democrat Presidents were more conservative back then, because the country was, and they had to be in order to get elected. Even Teddy Kennedy would have been conservative had he been elected President in the sixties.

But that’s my point - look how Teddy turned out - that is exactly how his brothers would have “evolved” had they lived long enough. They were Democrats to the bone - that was their choice. Reagan left the Democrat party - they didn’t. Trump left the Democrat party - they didn’t.

They all had one major flaw, despite all the soaring rhetoric about going after deep state corruption: they believed in further empowering the government.

That is the exact opposite of what the Founders believed.

Biden is a figurehead and is President in name only. The shots are being called by a leftist cabal. Joe sadly is too senile to have any moderating influence on what is happening and is being hoodwinked by the leftists to believe he is doing great things.

Maybe it was the fact that the third brother was not worth the bullet? He boozed himself to death, the “Lion of the Senate,” had one kill on his record. Pitiful family, in the end.

Of all the Presidents that have served during my lifetime (the first being Truman) JFK is about in the middle of the pack for my "Worst President Of My Lifetime Award".

Today Osama Obama holds the title by a wide margin, followed by the Peanut Farmer. Reagan and Trump are tied for last place.

I have a very strong hunch that Feels Up will take the lead at some point and if Heels Up ever holds the office *she* will take the top spot.

That could well be true...but as President he wasn't as bad as LBJ...Carter...BillyBob....Osama Obama...or Feels Up.

I read a book some time ago...can't recall the title...about the Old Man. He made his boys (JFK,Bobby,Teddy) look like choir boys by comparison.

The US made a sharp left turn on Nov.22, 1963 that continues. JFK was for tax cuts, the gold standard, and trying to balance the budget. Then LBJ began all the leftism. If a Democrat from now went back to 1963, they would be put in a straight jacket.

JFK would be considered a right wing extremist today.

LBJ had a lot of people fooled into thinking he was a Conservative, he was anything but. His time in the state as majority leader was a a disaster for this country that we are still suffering from due to changes he made in procedures in the senate.

He was without a doubt the most corrupt person ever to be President.

“JFK was for tax cuts, the gold standard, and trying to balance the budget.”

Right. And Obama was a uniter, not a divider. The Clintons were anti-corruption. The Democrats lie for a living. Soaring rhetoric to get themselves self elected and re-elected.

Except JFK died and all that’s left is the rhetoric.

Teddy is the only one of the brothers who lived long enough to show his true political colors.
