They all made huge mistakes and likely deserved it

I’m still conflicted over that one. I believe that she was part of the group that was allowed access by capital hill police (as opposed to the smaller group that broke a window to gain access), but having encountered a hastily-erected barricade like that my inclination would have been to tell her not to climb through that broken window frame.
Of course that isn’t meant in any way to excuse her execution.
People excuse police shootings all the time. Look at this thread alone.

Well some police shooting are justified, some are not. I don't recall too many people on this thread defending the SC cop who shot someone in the back a few years ago. We still don't know who shot Ashleigh Barrett so we can't ascertain the circumstances. For this one, I need more information before saying one way or another. I am certainly not going to take NPR's word on it

Two cops on that detail have resigned, and a third “retired”. This is not going to be good.
Two things are happening - on one hand, the militarization of the police, and the weakening of the 4th amendment. At the same time, policing powers are being taken away from localities, and shifted to the federal government.
Of course it's a homocide. Homocide merely means died by the actions of another person.
