What if a White mayor only granted interviews with White or Asian journalists?
MLK's dream has been replaced with a mentality of entitled retribution for perceived harms while the culture of the black community hasn't dealt with its failings of fatherless families, celebration of drugs, criminal activity, etc. Some go against the grain and value education, hard work, etc. but it's still a big problem and no amount to "representation" has fixed it in these cities. The black community has some serious soul searching to do but introspection and enlightenment isn't valued like a good time.
The gay community also has some self-examination to do. Legal marriage didn't fix anything because trust, fidelity, commitment are not valued in that culture. "Traditional" values are mocked, character is unappreciated, drugs are commonplace. It's full of immaturity.
When the Smithsonian mocked things like being on time and a work ethic as white values, there's something very wrong with the direction we're heading. Many of the things they listed are objectively good.
Guilt comes in many forms.

The excessive marketing is fascinating to watch. There was a study probably 20 years ago now that showed whites respond equally well to ads featuring blacks whereas blacks want to see themselves in ads. I wonder when that’ll shift.
